Question Weird wheel/tire wobble...

Hey all...

I installed a cold-air intake kit back in 1998, but just now got around to tearing apart the front wheel well and taking out all the useless plastic tupperware that was bolted on in there. Anyway, I have (what I believe is) a slight problem...

When I brought the car down off the hydraulic floor jack, the hydraulic release valve popped to drop the car immediately instead of bringing it down gently. The wheeled jack also slid about an inch when the car came down, putting lateral pressure on the tire/wheel.

Now, when steering at one to two MPH, I can feel a random wobble through the steering wheel coming from the front wheels. It's not a constant feel that would indicate a warp or bend, but a random wobble that only occurs when I move the steering wheel slightly, almost like there's now a damaged bearing.

Is there anything I should specifically check for? I jacked the car back up and tried to wobble the wheel back in forth by hand to see if there was any play, but I couldn't feel anything...

Any suggestions?

Do you feel anything when you are going faster? If it wobles at 2 MPH it must get worse at 60. Do you hear anything? Bad bearings usually make noise.

Question

Nope...that's what's weird. Above 5 MPH, it totally goes away. Below 5 MPH, it feels like I'm driving over small pebbles. I pulled the wheel off again and retightened everything, but the wobble is still there...

OK, this might seem like a dumb question, but did you notice this wobble just because of this jack incident? I mean, could it be that you are just looking for something to be wrong? I think it would take alot of lateral force to actually damage anything, think of how much stress is on the wheels when you slide sideways.

Have a Nice Day?

Possibly...that's why I'm posting the question here. I've already gone over in my mind whether or not I can really feel a difference. It's just one of those things that's probably been there all along but I'm just noticing it now...ohwell. I'll just keep an eye on it.
