Cool picking up a 1985 rx-7 today

I saw it sitting with a sign in a near by condo complex. Original owner, red, 5 spd, very good paint and body panels. No cracks in the dash or tears in the seats. It has 140K on new motor. It has srpings and a k&N filter, but is otherwise stock. I'm picking it up for $1,100, selling the wrx and using it as daily driver. This will save me around $500 per month. Hope it holds up. I have the mc for back-up if it ever leaves me stranded. (I only drive a few miles to work)

The wife and are tired of making good money and then ending up with nothing but payments to show for it. Then we can save and buy house when this SoCal market crashes

Anyway, just thought I would share.

BTW: does anyone know if this car will be somewhat reliable?

ummn....good luck with the DD thing.

I kinda think you're making a mistake trying to use it as the main vehicle, but it may work out for ya.

It would be hard to expect anything from 1985 to be a reliable daily driver....let alone a rotary known as an unreliable engine...

Goodluck though, and if you have patience, I am guessing you will enjoy the car even more than your wrx (key word is patience!)

<-just bought a 1991 240 as a daily driver (giving wrx to wife)

Its not what I would pick for a commuter but it would be fun to drive and it sounds like your commute is short enough that a breakdown wouldn't be horrible. Gas mileage is horrible on rotaries as well, but w/ a short commute that isn't so bad, especially having a bike to ride sometimes.

I've got an 88 Starion that I use as a daily driver. It's been completely rebuilt. 2.6L + turbo + RWD = fun.

I think I am up for the challenge. Plus, since I am only spending $1k, it won't kill me if I end up needing to drop a little cach in it for repairs.
