Question Borla headers / exhaust any good?

I'm considering getting both the Borla headers and exhaust for my '00 2.5 RS and am wondering if they are worth the money?
I would appreciate any input. I am very new to this and don't want to waste money.
If something would work better please let me know.
Thanks:-)

I have the Borla cat-back. It has a 2" pipe since it's made for the 2.2L, but it's still better than stock. Looks great and sounds great. Check this forum for a post from a few days ago. Good info there.

Cool

I "had" the exhaust and have the headers and think that BORLA SUCKS!!!!! It does sound very good but it has lousy welds, wraps around the oil filter, bumped on the crossmember, and is prone to cracking at the welds. It is the only one I know of at this time, but I am in the process of making a new one.

Question

thanks for the input everyone.
Are you making a header for your self or for the masses?

instrument G-tech, weight used 3140#
measured 1st thru 3rd. Avg of 5 runs.
Mods readings
test pipe 2.25,with (1)stripped
catalityc, both O2 sensors,2.25
center pipe, ----------------------129hp

same plus a Borla muffler----------134.4

adding a Borla header
( loss of torque, maybe not restrictive
enough this set up)----------------131hp

adding a (1)freeflow generic cat----137hp

Next i will measure a new stock rs to compare, and maybe a stromung.

Question

Ravent,
Does the header have the million mile warranty? I thought Borla was good about standing behind thier products. That is why I went with Borla. Have you tried getting your money back or a replacement? I'm sure they would at least replace it if it had bad welds or any manufacturing defects. Of course if you don't like it because it is a bad design, that might be a different story. Of course if enough people complain they might change the design.

Unhappy

I installed a set of Borla headers today, fired up my car, heard the headers bouncing of metal were the A arms connect to the car and am thinking I probably should have listened to ravent and waited to see what else comes out. I emailed Tom at Kartboy and he said he would like to build a set to see if there are any gains but he is really busy.
The headers do have the Million Mile Warranty and I'm going to see if that will cover having them bent to fit or if I can return them.
I was told by Competion Design that the cat back exhaust from Borla for the RS is 2.25.

Exclamation

Suberboy,
Call Competition Design and ask them what the part # is for the cat-back. If it's #14885 it is 2" piping. If he argues, have him open it up and look at the part list sheet. If Borla does make a 2.25, then I'll be putting my system in the classifieds very soon! I'm going to email Borla and find out.
