HI guy's so today was the first time I have ever been in a subaru.It was as I drove away from dd in my new blue '05 sti . Amazing I am in love now to knock off 1500 km under 4k rmp wich is brutal torture when you want to feel the full power of a new car.Oh yeah the car is soooo sexy! I can't wait until the break in is over so I can find a nice safe place to test the limits

I think that breakin is crap. I redlined mine as I drove it off the lot. It had about 55k on it before I wrecked it and always ran fine. Congrats on the new car. Enjoy

Break-in period is a load of crap as said above. As long as you do your scheduled oil changes and keep everything in good working order that is all that needs to be done.

i broke in mine in 2 days

i drove it night and day from richmond to west van then to north van and to burnaby then go to coquitlam then back to richmond...
when i became tired then back home and have a sleep, after i wake up, go back to the garage and start the car up again, lol

1500 km wasn't too long to wait... it only costs you about 4-5 tank of gas

I wanted to call the break-in crap.. but I also didn't want to risk it.. So I made my own rule.. Nothing over 5000rpm for 500kilometers.. Which took about 4 days, and after 500k I tried to avoid any thing hard for the next 1000k, but wasn't 'too' worried about it.

I think it's more important to avoid leaving the RPM at a constant speed during the first few hundred K. It's not just how much wear, but what types of wear.
