Question BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDWS, how is it?

Has anyone else had any experience with these tires. They came recommended by another Scooby owner. I want an all season tire that I can use part time in the snow. I don't live in it, but I do go boarding quite often during the winter.

Cool

Well, I like them alot. I'm runing the 215/50 VR16 G-Force KDW's. I've had them on the car for about 8,000 miles now. They are probably not the highest of the performance tires, but they are an excellent comprimise, providing very good wet and dry traction, in my Opinion. The sidewalls seem reasonably stiff for a perfomance tire, and I have noticed no sidewall roll, or tread squirm. Yes, I do drive fairly hard on the street, but have not made it out to he track yet. They have not let me down yet!

As for the size, be cautioned that they are a tight fit on the rear. I have noticed absolutly no signs of rubbing at all, but the clearance between the inner rear sidewalls and the rear struts is small (about my wife's finger width). But, I say again, no signs of rubbing at all (again attesting to the sidewalls being reasonable stiff to avoid contact with the strut under heavy cornering). Hope this helps, any other questions, feel free to ask...

Homer,

you realize that there are three different G Force tires right?

KD - dry only. I don't know anyone who has these.

KDW - dry and wet. OEM (215/50ZR16) on the Contour SVT. probably the best all around choice, the tread isnt as hardcore as the dry only, probably a good compromise.

KDWS - dry, wet, snow - if you compare all three versions, these are by far the most pedestrian. I dont think I'd go this route, I currently have an all season BGF (comp t/a VR4) on my car, and they are lacking on dry pavement.

Of course, maybe you knew all of that..
in that case, oops.

I would think you could get by using the KDWs year round with AWD. depends on hom much snow you have to deal with.

A co-worker has the KDW's on his Countour SVT and he didnt like them in the snow. but he's just got Fr. WHeel Drive.....

Cool

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah I knew about the different types and I'm only interested in the KDWS since they are more of an all season tire. I'd figured they weren't the best on the street, but they are cheaper than the other models and I can't afford to buy different tires just for snow.

I have heard good things about the KD as well, but they are only available in 17"+ sizes. Person who had driven them told me you had to use some caution in the wet.
