Im really new to turbo cars in gerneral. Please dont flame. If im turboing a 2.5 rs with a td04. Where should i run the vacume line from the wastegate. Im assuming somewhere in the intake manifold that will get vacume. Also is it possible to run extremly low boost on my car. Around 4 psi or even no boost at all. I want to run low boost because i dont have fuel management yet. Thanks.

You will tap into the pressure side of the turbo outlet. Use a brass elbow that has a "screw in" fitting on one side and a barbed fitting on the other.. this is the easiest place to put it. I will see if I can find a picture for you..
http://www.forcedairtech.com/stage3.html this is a horrible picture, but if you look at the turbo you can see where the fitting is placed, just inferior to the blue silicone fitting on the pipe leading to the intercooler. hope that helps. |

if you don't want boost don't hook up the vacuum to the wastegate.. this will leave the wastegate valve open all the time, not allowing any boost to be produced..

That's exactly what you DON'T want to do! If there is no boost source to open the wastegate, the turbo will boost up to its limits (ask me how I know!). There must be a source of boost connected to the port on wastegate actuator. That said, the actuator on the td04 from a WRX will run at about 8lbs. I'm not sure if there are lower boost options out there... If you want 0 boost, disconnect the actuator from the flapper so that the flapper can open freely... ![]() -Charlie |
