Have a Nice Day? Two (or 3) Q's for EJ18 Turbo kit: EGT connection, BOV and Intake design

So im going to give it a shot to see if I cant get this turbo kit done here soon. Im going to try to order the oil feed lines from ISR, and Ill have the intercooler setup done, so all ill need I think are what to do about the Intake design for my setup, the blow off valve and how to mount the EGT.

For reference, im turboing my EJ18 using WRX exhaust piping, a td04 and a WRX intercooler. I know what I need to do for getting the intercooler to fit now, and I have the silicone piping coming. The engine management and such is all ready to go too, exept I will need help with wiring

But in order to finalize what I need, I need an intake design for sure. I dont have any way of fabricating anything myself, so im curious if anyone can make anything for me or can give me a good idea of exactly what i need to do in terms of vacume lines and such and how to build the intake pipe without fabrication.

For the BOV, I hear that the WRX BOV wont work with this setup... I still have a bosche BOV and can use that if it wont work, but I need some sort of something for an adapter plate to the intercooler, and if so I need to know where to get one.

For the EGT, im not sure what I should do. Should I just use the 02 sensor hole to mount it? I dont have the little screw thingy that comes with the probe I wish I did, or I could probably figure this one out myself... I heard something about the oil gally plug fitting in the 02 sensor hole? Could I use one of the threaded oil gallys to make some sort of EGT connection? Just curious how others have done it...

Anyway, I have a week coming up here where I can work on this, but I dont know how much I can get done in that amount of time, especially when it comes to wiring.

how to build the intake pipe without fabrication.

no offense man but u contridicted urself?

go to any small local machine shop, tell them u want a little stupid piece made, theyll probably charge u like 20 bucks for cost of mat+time

drill +tap the manifold the shop could do it for u too

just take it down there tomorrow man, theyll get it done in no time

I dont know what specs I need for it though. I will have to pre-arange time for getting something made like that (every shop around here is either not willing to do small jobs like that, or will do it with an apointment and alot of cash in hand) but what i meant was if there was some pre-bent pipe I can just get and drill a couple vacume line holes + JB weld on the nipples or something like that.

Hell, at this point if someone from the board made it for me i'd pay for it.

I dont want to tap the manifold since like i said, theres already a hole.

if u dont need the 02 sensor do it

im sure there has to be ONE small machine shop left in ur town? keep lookin drive down the older industrial skreetz and look

as for those vacuum lines...im a lil confused by them...mainly because theres no vacuum in the intake tube, well, a lil but not much, when u close the butterfly everything between the engine and that butterfly is the vacuum source iirc

ok, for a more solid question... Where do I get the two bend pipes for the intake coming from the turbo in this pic? (the 90 degree black plastic bend, and whatever is connecting it to the turbo)

You can also get silicon hoses at a number of other places online. If you want metal pipes, you can get mandrel bent aluminized tubing from Summit Racing or McMaster-Carr... Cut to fit and hook it together with the silicone tubes.

Steve, sorry for not ever selling you my extra oil feed line, I ended up using it when I swapped the new clutch in the car. The old one was leaking and I didn't want to deal with it, so I just swapped it out. I then rebuilt the other line and am keeping it for another turbo project. Anyways, the reason for the post is this.

EAR 997641 Banjo -04 10mm
Ear 977520 Banjo 10X1.5 10mm
Ear 300104 Hose End STR 4 (you'll need 2)
Ear 3000004 S.S Hose 04 (get 3 feet)

That's what you need for the oil line, all the parts can be purchased online at Summit or possibly Jegs.

You can also get the mandrel bends you need at Summit, the silicone connectors just use the rubber ones from OSH until you figure out what you need. Once you have everything figured out, www.turbohoses.com

Hmm, I think the right 90 bend from sporthoses and a transitional hose from turbo hoses will let me use the 3" mandrel piping I have just right

But ya, the oil line ive already ordered, no biggie.

I think I still need to figure out what to do about the BOV... I saw some people are using the stock one, others are not... So im not sure.

I'm pretty sure it was 2 1/4". Actually, I think it was 2 1/8" and they were out of stock of that, so I ordered the next biggest.

Ya, its 2 1/4". I emailed both places to check and see whats in stock. Ill probably do a 2 1/4" 90 bend and a 2 1/4 to 3" transition/reducer and use the 3" piping to the MAF.
