At the Track Tires allowed in A Stock

What tires am I allowed to use in A Stock?

ie..it states the tires must be OEM.....so does that mean you can use any tire that is DOT legal or what? Also if the tire is considered a "competition" tire can you use it? Somebody help me out I would appreciate it. I will be picking up some rims in the near future so I am trying to make some tire decisions to stay in A Stock with my STi. Please make reccomendations if you feel like it.

Thanks,
Justin

Your WHEELS must be the same width and diameter as OEM.

Tires can be any size you can squeeze on them.

Any tire that is DOT legal and not on an exclusion list. SO that means any street tire, and any R-compound DOT tire.

So I can use anything DOT legal that I can fit under my fenders and not rub the hell out of everything? I was under the impression that anything over 225 was too wide, cool!

Sort of....

Anything DOT legal that will fit on your stock wheels (or same size but lighter... 17 x 7.5) will be legal.

Example tires:
Hoosier AS03A or AS04A
Kumho Ecsta V700 or Victoracers V700
Yokohama A032R or Advan A048
Pirelli Pilot Sport Cup
Avon Tech-R

Titles don't mean anything really... many of those posts in my post count have nothing to do with anything qualitywise.

I just help with stuff I know about...

I can think of at least one person off the top of my head with a Guru title who's pretty useless overall...

KC isn't one of them.

The title simply means KC's a true GURU at posting while he should be working!

What are some illegal/excluded non-DOT tires then? Would they be substantially stickier then our usual DOT Kumho/Hoosier/etc tires?

I believe the Kumho 710s are illegal this year...but that's all I can think of.

Race slicks, as used in Prepared & Modified classes - Hoosier & Goodyear being the most common suppliers for autox. They can be substantially stickier than r-compounds, or not, depending on the compound.

Oooooh, one of those reality shows. I'm a reality show snob; I don't watch them. I have a DVR so I'm not really limited by when things come on anymore. SouthPark comes on during primetime as far as I'm concerned, as do the F1 or WRC events, MythBusters, Chappelle's Show, etc. Come to think of it I rarely watch network TV. I had a great conversation with AYS about Friends being "cancelled." Boy did he get bent out of shape when I said that!
