Post How can you tell if your diff is not working?

I don't know if it's me, but, I've noticed more skids after the dealer has replaced it. I've noticed it when powering turns. I'm not sure if it's a faulty diff or not. How can you tell if your diff doesn't work right? Or can you adjust sensitivity?

It's not adjustable..at least not in this country... as for effectiveness...jack the car up in the center....spin one tire by hand...if the other tire rotates the same direction...you're all set...if not...something's up. The only thing this doesn;t tell you is at what point the limited slip begins to slip.

Hope this helps,

If I spin one of my front wheel, the other side rotates the opposite way.

Which diff were you talking about?

I'm assuming they are talking about the rear diff, the one that is LSD on a 2000 and up. The front is an open diff. That is why on the front one tire spins forward and the other back.

Sorry for being vague. I assumed they were asking about the rear limited slips although doing this on the front end will only tell you the obvious; that our front limited slip is non-existent. As for the rear, both wheels should spin in the same direction on a car that is equipped with a limited slip. Keep in mind that thid does not tell you at what point your l.s. lets go... just that with no bias in rotational friction values that it's still working fine.
