Default Please Confirm: tranny from 2.5RS will work properly with the 2.2 Motor?

Buddy has a dead 2.2 OBS tranny. He's sourced a 2.5RS tranny and we just need to confirm if we can use this tranny.

I'm pretty sure that everything will bolt right up, but there are obvious differences between the two.

The 2.5RS clutch fork is pushed with a hydraulic piston and I believe his is cable driven...

Is there a way to use the same clutch fork from his OBS on the 2.5?

Has anyone even heard of such a swap?

Need details asap.

Thanks!

This is according to my 2000 model year manuals, previous years may be different.

No, you cannot swap a 2.2 mt with a 2.5 mt. The 2.2 final drives are 3.9 and the 2.5 final drives are 4.11. You can however swap the tranny AND the rear diff.

He sourced one from an OBS anyways for cheaper...more miles on this one ~30k, but that's not a biggie...he also landed a 1 year warranty.

Now to hope his shift linkage is good.

Be sure to check/replace the driveshaft oil seal and change the fluid.
