Hi! I'm new to this site and it's good to know that there are other Bajas out there. I was wondering if anyone out there has seen a Baja with four sport lights on top rather then just two. I was wondering how it looked, I think I want to put two more up there but I just need a push. I called SOA to see if I could get the brackets rather then the whole kit (after all the wiring and switch is already in place why get bunch of stuff I don't need) not to mention the Hella lights are only 69.99 at any Pep Boys. Unfortunately Subaru only will sell the whole kit... even the covers. So at any rate, before I spend another three hundred and something on more lights I want to make sure it looks cool.

The Hella's come with switches and everything, except the correct mount brackets, I'd do Hellas instead of the Baja Lights for sure. Make your own brackets, or just drill thru the crossbar, and order a spare cross bar if you had to take the lights down. For me 4 lights would be too corny, but for others it would be cool.
Maybe a photochop is in order. anyone? ![]() |

OK here is a quickie made from some images posted.
I personally like the aftermarket light with the gards better. They bring out the lines in the foglights and match better. |

I went to the dealer for the brackets and they can get them for me. Brackets & Hardware $40, Hella Lights at Pep Boys $69, saving $249 on sport lights......PRICELESS!

My parts are slowly coming in for my next two lights. As of today I have three up there, by weeks end my last bracket should be in and I'll have four. It looks cool! The wind noise is just the same as with the two... no difference. When I'm done I'll get some pics posted!

SUCCESS!! I have all four Hella 500 driving lights on my light bar... it looks pretty sharp (when I figure out how to get my pics from my digital camera to this site I'll show you) They weren't on 24 hours when I got pulled over by a Pennsylvania State Trooper. I didn't have the covers on. Now the Trooper let me off with a warning ticket since I had the covers in the back seat but he did give me some info as I explained the sport lights to him. In PA it's a $100.00 fine to drive on the road with out covers on your off-road lights. However he did admit its a gray area on whether the ticket would stick since the lights work only when the parking break is on. So I then asked if I could put stone guards or clear covers on the lights and it be street legal. He tipped his hat back a little and admitted that was another gray area. So since I had him there I asked him if I put seats in the bed of the truck for the summer like the BRAT if that was legal. He actually had an answer for that which surprised me. Putting seats in the back or just having people back there is just fine as long as you are not traveling above 35MPH and the people in the back of the truck must all be over 18 years of age. So I then asked that if I had a BRAT would the same laws apply or would there be a grandfather clause or something (sort of like seatbelts in an antique car). He concluded that the same rules apply for the BRAT... 35 and 18. So all you Pennsylvania BAJA and BRAT drivers now the the rules... cover your sport lights and 35 & 18!!

When my boyfriend picked up his Jeep Liberty Renegade the dealer told us about the light cover law. He took them off at the dealership before we left. We now have had the Jeep for 6 months and he hasn't gotten told about it yet, but where I live I bet the cops don't even know! I'm gonna tell him to put clear covers on them since it is a grey area teehee.
Also there isnt that much wind noise with his 4 lights, but the jeep does have beefy noises comming from everywhere! I have 2 hella lights from my old WRX that I am going to install on my Baja, but instead of on the crossbar I think I am going to put them on the front bumper. |

jimtesla... I had the dealer install the first set of lights because I thought wires needed to be run and I wasn't sure of the correct path to run them, after all I didn't want to tear apart a new car. But I was later told that the wiring was already there. Look under the passenger side rail and the wire should be there. The end of it should be a capped off plug. You should see it without removing anything... it's just kind of tucked in. Then you would have to put the switch in yourself. Just pull out the empty plastic piece where the CD changer would go and the other end of the wire should be there to plug the switch into. My second set of lights I just spliced into the original.
