Smile Flogged to death ram air question...

I know this is an old one but I have to ask. If I wanted to fab up some kind of direct induction to the intake using the hood scoop, then the worry is water getting in. So here's the Question. How the heck do production intakes such as on the Camaro and Firebird deal with this issue? I used to have a YZF600R bike with ram intake and even when riding in the rain, never had a problem.

Cool

Did someone say "flogged to DEATH"...oooo I
get all warm and fuzzy! I mounted my cone
right on top of a short stack and used
silicone hoses to replace the factory ones
and did a Velcro (love the sound of that Velcro ripping!) job on the hood sheild for
quick on and off! You DO have a MY00...?
As for Camaros & Firebirds...who cares?

Production ram air will usually have channels to run water away from the intake. Some have a little moat around the aircleaner to collect water.

Large quantitys of water will collect along the bottom of the intake, if you make a drain at the lowest point, and your filter is at a higher point, this should reduce (not prevent) water from making into the engine.
