Question Anti-Lift kit = Alignement?

For those of you who installed the kit, did you have to align the front wheels? Did the camber and toe change? On the MRT site they only "suggest" to align the car which is why I ask.

If you did so, did you keep the same settings as without the anti-lift kit?

Thanks for the info,

JF

I would think that you'd absolutely need to align it afterwards since it changes toe, camber, and castor (which is it's point afterall) all at the same time just from installing it. Your can may drive weird without an alignment and you'll get funny tire wear eventually.

I cannot answer this since I don't know exactly to what level it will change the car. A sure bet would be to start with the rear sway bar, then the suspension. That's when you will see the biggest difference. I'll be able to tell you more in a couple of days when it is installed

I don't have the kit but I've been thinking about it. Only problem is that it'd up me in classes at autocrosses from STS to Street Prepared so I didn't get them since it is only my first season and would have NO chance in hell.

Not to condone cheating, but do you think anyone would notice your anti-lift kit at an Auto-X? If I caught something like that at an Auto-x, I wouldn't protest because I don't think it's a make or break part, in regards to being competetive.

LOL true... BTW, I hate the MRT links FYI. My front ones creak even when fully greased and I've had the rears but they are still no comparison to solid links. (my review of links will be updated soon as well as my homemade front links being published ).

Thumbs up

Okay, time for a review. The anti-lift kit is in and so far I like it. It's not like it will transform the car though. I already had a tight handling with the (original) Prodrive setup. The car wouldn't lift or dive that much compared to stock suspension. Now, with the AL kit, the car won't lift that much (if not at all) under hard acceleration (1-2-3 gears). When braking, the nose feels tighter but will still dive if you hit the middle pedal too hard. Under cornering, it seems that the outside front tire scrub a bit more making the tail easier to skid. I suspect the weight transfer being different. All this was done on very familiar roads and curves (wet) so it's not so much psychological as some would say. The fitting took around 50 minutes and there isn't much difference in the car's alignment or stability. On the higway, I could feel the wheel floating a bit more and maybe the different castor has to do with it. I'll have the alignment checked soon just to make sure. So far so good, this is probably another good bang for the buck item handling-wise second to the 20mm rear sway bar. For 165$US it's hard to beat!

Cheers,

JF
