Question Attn Suspension specialists

Hello,

I have about 15000 miles on my prodrive suspension. When I come back from driving, there is a discrete and repetitive clunking noise when I start backing up or going forward, wheels fully turned. At first I thought it would be the axles but the rubber boots are in perfect shape. I can hear it only in the garage when I park, after some driving when the car is warm. The only other thing I can think of would be the upper plates of the front shocks, inside the strut tower. Is there a quick fix for that? I know there are bearings in there but I am not much of a mechanic so that's why I'm asking. I will have my anti-lift kit installed tomorrow and I will make sure to have this checked.

Any of you had a similar experience? Your thoughts are welcomed.

Thanks a lot,

JF

I'm assuming since you suspect the front struts that the noise is coming from the front of the car.

That being the case I would check the tie rods and the ball joints. Could be anything though, even the notorious "steering clunk" from the U-joint near the firewall.

Question

I think I may have had the same problem that you have -- my prodrive suspension clunked at full steering lock when parking. I had it after the set was installed, but the "problem" went away after a few months.

Hi,

I just got back from my dealer and *miracle* I have been able to reproduce it while the mechano was in the car! It only does it when I drive for a while. It took 2 road tests to get it, the first being with the mechano at the wheel... It's so sweet to be driven around in your own car!

Everything is tight under the car so they suspect the CV joint to be the culprit. The rubber boot is perfectly intact though. They told me to wait for the problem to get worse and to come back right away.

Thanks for your inputs.

Richard, maybe your strut isn't tight enough on the strut tower? (sorry for my poor technical english, I don't know all the terms)

Cheers,

JF
