Post Goodyear tires?

I know what you're thinking...why bother?

But I'm asking for a few reasons.

1) I think I can get them cheap.

2) I think they come with a guarantee and last a while longer.

3) I can get them locally and don't have to pay for shipping.

Anyone know anything about their UHP line? Traction? Tread life? Decent tire or not?

Thanks in advance.

The g-force KD is awesome. KDW is good. Some of the varieties of the F1 family are good, but they are overpriced and only in odd [actually exotic] sizes (like the F1 fioriano).

The comp TA VR4 is still a decent, long wearing performance all season.

But when it comes right down to it, besides the KD I can easily think of something else I'd rather have in each type of tire.

Any goodyear I've not mentioned is crap, IMO.

Primative Racing uses the Goodyear DOT R slicks, and speaks of them very highly.

Question

Yeah, I'm kind of concerned with longetivity, and the F1 steel seems like it would last a while for a UHP tire.

Some people on the board can afford to burn a set of tires in 20-25k miles but I'd like to get a little more from mine.

Thanks for the help, Colin.

They use variants of the Eagle F1 on Vette's & Ferraris, so they can't be too bad. If you can get a good deal on those, that may be the way to go. But remember, SP8000's & RE71's can be had for around 80 bucks apiece, & those would probably perform better than the F1's.

What's embarrassing, your mistake or the fact that I corrected you?

Used to have a 98 Vette Conv until early this year. I went through the back tires in 25k. But then I was having fun with the car, still it was an automatic and I didn't light em up more than once or twice cause I usually had traction control on. My best tires to date for performance and durability were P6's

back to the BFG tip, if you have any type of uprated suspension, stay AWAY from the Comp T/A VR4 - too hard, not enough grip. If you have the stock suspension with just a bigger rear bar you'll love them. Go with at least the G-Force line, KD, or KDW. KDs look pretty hardcore, Personally Ill probably be going with the KDW next.
