Default Rocky Mountain Rally - May 28/29

ROCKY MOUNTAIN RALLY - May 28/29 Calgary, Alberta Canada
Come see history in action!

Rallysport is taking off in Alberta, and 2004 is already shaping up to be a record year. On May 28th 50 cars are scheduled to take the start of the Rocky Mountain Rally, the second even in both the 2004 Canadian Rally Championship and the 2004 Western Canadian Championship. Entries include perennial favorites (and Subaru Heros) Patrick Richard and Tom McGeer in matching open class 2004 WRX Stis, Frank Sprongl and his brother Dan in their EVO, Andrew Comrie-Picard in his EVO IV, Antoine L’Estage in hi s ex-factory Hyundai Tiburon and a host of other names and cars.
Not only is 50 cars a record entry, buy Westerners have to be proud that 22 or those entries are from Alberta!
There is a car display followed by the official start and spectator stages on Friday night, May 28, at the Blackfoot Motorcycle Park starting at 6 PM.

Entry to the park is $5, but by purchasing a $10 Rally Pack from any area Mac’s Convenience Store you get two $5 tickets, a spectator guide made by Inside Track Magazine, a Rocky Mountain Rally Poster, and a few other goodies!

The forest stages run Saturday, in the Porcupine Hills. Plan to travel early as the roads leading to the spectator areas are stage roads that will be closed by 9:45. you will have a chance around noon to get in or out – but the roads are very tightly controlled.

More information can be found at www.RockyMountainRally.com

Live spectating at a rally can be fun, but remember to take layers of clothes, and a few provisions out to the stages with you.

Subaru Calgary is having a "meet the drivers & crew day" on Thursday May 27th. from 11:00-14:00.

Hot dogs & pop are free.

They usually have a not too bad turn out.

Great chance to meet Tom & Patrick, as well as the crew.

Why do they always have this Alberta Rallies on the same weekend as WCMA Road Course points weekends? Bugga. Well I'm sure all that attend the raly will have fun. Be sure to get there early & please consider volunteering. It's what keeps motorsports in this province alive. It can be fun & you can meet great ppl.

I'll be crewing there this year. 2002 WRX... not mine.

When was that picture taken? How are the roads now? I might have to put my winter tires back on just to get out to the service areas if it's that snowy.

Im gonna be there!

I went last year and it was a pretty cool experience and Ive been looking forward to going back ever since I got back home last year. I will most likely be sitting in front of that big tent again but it will be nice to see a few of your cars there.

I got a Rally pack from the Macs near Chinook centre.

I just got back from the spectator stage. OH MY GOD it was amazing this year 2 cars flipped over on the second last corner ( #9 VW GTI and a Subaru WRX (didn't get his number))

I like the setup of the stages this year, much more exciting I can bet that next year that hairpin corner where the 2 cars flipped is gonna get nixed though....

See you all out at Porcupine Hills tommorow

This was a great event! Very fun to crew/spectate (didn't do much spectating). Where can we get the results? I'd like to see where our team finished. The weather was crazy. Now I've got rally fever and kept being asked when I'm going to enter my own car...
