I've been noticing that my car has been leaving brown puddles. I didn't know if it was maybe my other car that left it before it, or if its new. Today I checked under the car...I see liquid on the oil tank, the headers, the carb... its everywhere... I thought at first it was oil, but upon further inspection, i foudn it to be tranmission fluid. How'd that start leaking? I have no clue. I'm gonna call up my dealership tomorrow and see if I can get it checked out soon. Anyone else had this problem before?
MY00 RS, Sedan, Automatic. No mods besides the sound system....

Have you ever had a "power trani flush" ? I had one done once and awhile afterwards the lines came loose and leaked. All they had to do was tighten the lines back up. I never noticed any puddels ... but i did however notice the trani fluid all over the place underneath the car when i went to change my oil.
Hopefully it's just a simple fix for you also. Hope this helps you out ![]() |

Transmission fluid is Pink?? Not brown. A MY00RS should still have realively clean fluid. Are you sure it is not engine oil or differential grease??

Automatic transmission fluid is pink. Might be motor oil.

First off, no on the power trani flush
Second, it has to be the transmission fluid. I got a paper towel, wiped over the puddle (it is fairly small, which means its leaking pretty slowly-thanksfully). Then I took out the dipstick, wiped that too...Hm...they are both brown, but one is musch lighter then the other-hence cant be oil. Next thing I checked was the transmission fluid, ok forget all that, just went down and checked again, looked at the cap (my neighbor said it might be transmission fluid)-but alas it is not, this is however-brake fluid. Not a good sign huh? My brakes have been working fine, I havne't done anything with them, only thing REMOTELY close to do with brakes that I have done is color the calipers yellow, but that wouldnt cause a leak near the engine.....Hm...Well I'm taking it in on thursday anyways so that Subaru can deal with it. |

when you painted your calipers, did you remove them???
if you did.. you would have needed to bleed the brake lines... if you did not do this... this could be the source of your problem. j. |
