found this today. i donno if it really will work, but i did send emails to some friends.
it wont make any diff. for me since i buy my gas @ Chevron what u guys think??? Dear friends & family, I hear we are going to hit close to a $1.42 a Litre by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the don't buy gas on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $.80 a litre is super cheap. Me too! It is currently .78 to .89 depending on what day it is,for regular unleaded gas in Montreal, Qc. We all know that we're being screwed by the oil companies. Does everyone remember how they drove up the prices way past a dollar and got the gas prices to where they wanted them, claiming there was a shortage of oil. Well, there isn't any shortage now, and the oil is more abundant than it was 35 years ago when the price of a litre of gas was 29 cents!!! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre of gas is CHEAP at $0.78-$0.85, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace....not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we cant just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war. Attention Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), PETRO CANADA, SHELL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of PETRO CANADA and SHELL buyers. Its really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point...keep reading and Ill explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to at least thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people... Well, lets face it, you just aren't a Mathematician. But I am. so trust me on this one.) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! Ill bet you I didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $0.64 OR LESS RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK!!!!!!! PLEASE take a few minutes and pass this on to everyone you know!! A lot of those letters are infected by virus or worm now. Also, whoever propose this obviously has zero understanding of Supply and Demand. So what if you don't buy the gas tomorrow? You will still buy it the day after. If you want to save on gas money? STOP DRIVING YOUR CAR. Until they start slapping heavy taxes on gas gussler (sp?), the demand won't drop. It's funny seeing all those people driving SUV complaining about the gas prices. They clearly printed the mileage in the brochure. Not to mention that those owners are driving up the prices as well.

Good post Netrospunk. It also cracks me up that people only put $10 of fuel in their car but fill up 3 times as often. wasting time, sometimes going out of their way for a mere 1-2cents per liter. What DOES piss me off though is that BC produces enough gas to supply it's population yet our gas prices are still as high or higher than the rest of the country to keep things =. Screw equal, if we can produce enough of our own fuel let's keep it and keep the prices reasonable. I bet you're just happy (NECRO) that you don't have to pay the buck30 or whatever it was when you were in Nippon. NE?

BC don't have any crude oil to start with so we're at the mercy of OPEC anyway. We still have to buy the crude oil for refining into gas, diesel, and jet fuel. Unless we stop exporting all Canadian oil and make them Canada only, the prices will be the same as everywhere else. That won't fly since the oil wells are own by companies and not the government.

Where exactly is this crude oil and who pump them out? Last time I email Chervon for a school paper and they told me they get their crude from Alaska, Mid-East, and Alberta. Even if I'm wrong, the local producers won't bother selling to us at a lower price and sell to other provinces or states.

Most of these types of "Gas Price Protests" are fine in theory as none of us like to pay more than we have to.
Unfortunately we humans are funny creatures in that we become use to certain things in our greedy every day lives, such as using our cars, no matter what type of car. On top of this we all know that we will not sacrifice that by even skipping a day without driving. We will always have an excuse to drive. Anything from thinking it's our right, to having to get to work ... forgetting that there is public transit ... yes, it's more inconvenient but doing it for one day? Surely we could do that. The oil companies know people will never band together in enough large groups to make this protest effective ... and guess what? We will all be paying $2 a litre within the next 24 months. Have a nice day |

what I do is buy 5-10$ of gas each time, plus a bit more like $5.23 or $10.89 something like that, and paying all the $0.23 or $0.89 in pennies or some nickels......which I have ALOT.
That feels good becoz I can waste all my junk change in no time, without embarrassment while you going to cashier becoz the gas price so high everybody pissed, everybody wants a piece of gas company but they cant do a thing effectively, throw changes at them would be nice (eat my pennies!! you A-hole!) |

Hmm if you did that and shouted something like, "There! Now I have enough gas in my car to drive my bankrupt *** off a bridge and end my hatred for gas prices!", that would really get the ball rolling. We won't discuss the embarasment factor.
![]() The only method to make anything cheaper is to produce more or use less. 3 billion people going to 10,000 privately owned gas stations to avoid the 300,000 commercial stations will still result in 3 billion people needing gas and the prices won't change cause it's all coming from the same source. |

nothing will change for the good untill the oil runs out, the gas companys dont care what happens to the consumers or the enviroment ,all they care about is cash, cash ,cash
eventually I will switch to ethanol , here is one of my threads from a while back http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...anol+coversion |
