Default Sparco Seat Question

I'm about to buy a Sparco Evo seat for my 04 WRX. What mounts do I need for it? I don't need height adjustment but I want it to slide back and forth.

You just need a slider and a driver side mount. You can get both from worldoneperformance.com or a few other sites.

you will need:

sliders

side plates

base mount

sparco has 2 styles. the new style makes the seat sit very low. so low you cant see over the gauges but these are better. you can adjust the side plates to the heigth you want. with the old style you cant get the seat very low. with the evo seats you need the side plates anyway because the seats dont have holes in the bottom to mount. just the side

Oh sorry I forgot my sparco was a bottom mount. Listen to ^^him you need the side mounts too.
BTW the new style is great for people who are 6'4" or taller. Gave me like 5-6 inches of headroom when my hair was brushing the ceiling before.

I just ordered the new style ones a few days ago. The shop had some sold units that I got to check out. The new style has holes for both side-mount and bottom mount seats. Basically, it is a flat steel plate with tabs welded on the ends. Seats should sit super-low. The only thing that looked iffy was the seatbelt mount. My current subframe (Cobra) has a super-beefy threaded seatbelt mount. The Sparco slider setup looks a lot better, though.

The new style is just a mount, it will bolt up to any sparco seat.

Just an FYI, I have the new Sparco laser cut bases (and sliders) in stock for the WRX in both driver and passenger side. These were for a customer who has since cancelled. I'm looking for somebody to do an installation review with photos, so if you are interested, email me at sales at soloracer.com. I'd prefer to sell both driver and passenger side.

oic..new style base mount..not the side mounts...

so i would need
1) seat
2) new style base mount
3) slider
4) side mount.

so basically i just need the new style bse mount...

Not sure what you mean by low style, but the new laser cut bases are listed on the top of page 1 here under the heading Flat (requires base and slider only)...

It fits the same seats its just a better designed mount. The old one took some bending and grinding to fit this one bolts right on.

There are not 2 styles this one replaced the old mount.

IC. So if I bought new mounts w/ the same model # I would get the redesigned mount? Is there a list for which mounts are redesigned (Ie I dont have an Impreza)

I dont know if they changed the model number with the new mounts. Just that when I ordered mine I ordered the old ones right when the new ones were coming out. And world one told me there would be a delay because new ones are comming out. I have no idea how it is for non impreza mounts though.

Ok, I'm bringing this thread back because I'm having problems getting all my Sparco pieces to fit together.

I have:

Evo 2 Seat (859F)
Aluminum side mounts (490W)
sliders with handle (00493)
hardware kit (50001)
WRX "flat" base, drivers side (400SB010L)

Basic problem: the seat is too wide to fit between the side mounts when put together as recommended on Sparco's site http://www.sparco-usa.com/resourceFiles/20.pdf. The seat base has two sets of holes to mount the sliders to. The sliders I have (00493) only fit the holes that are towards the inside of the base, so that the slider handle can connect the two slider levers.

From what I can tell, I need the sliders mounted to the outside holes, which should give enough extra width to fit the seat. The sliders won't fit on these holes., nor would the handle span the distance to the two levers if mounted there.

Is there another piece I need? Part number 500 is an "adaptor, required with most" on the Sparco part list...but not really mentioned anywhere else.

Can someone with a side mount Sparco seat help out here? Thanks for your help.

The first thing that I would do would be to go to Sparco's website and look at the FLAT seat base diagram. See if it looks like the one that you have. Maybe a Sparco employee built the base wrong or drilled the holes in the wrong place.

Then I'd call Sparco and ask about the width of the EVO 2 seats. Are the EVO2's too wide for standard mounting?

Does the FLAT base fit the car correctly?

So you are looking at at least $300 in parts if you buy everything from Sparco? Yikes!

Piper Motorsport did custom brackets (with the same slider) for less than that... somethin to think about if you have a competent race shop in your area..

The diagram on their site (link above) matches exactly to what I have in front of me (the flat base). I have not put the base into the car yet, but it appears to have correct bolt locations and design. The instructions specifically say to use the "inner holes" which are the only ones that work with the sliders anyway.

The Evo2 may be too wide, but based on the specification sheet (and the difference between the two), so would the Evo.

Does anyone have an Evo2 mounted in an Impreza and has a picture of their setup they can share?

Strangely enough, the local shop I got the seat from (they are much cheaper in Europe) couldn't get the "new" flat mounting brackets, so I ordered those from the U.S. I'll take a picture of what I have put together and post it.

Edit: I measured a few things:

Width of Evo2 seat at mounting point (17")
Width of flat seat base "inner" holes - 14.5 inches
Width of outer holes - 16.5 Inches
Span of slider handle - 11 inches

Drilling new holes (one on each side) in the sliders will make this work when attached to the outer holes, except the slider handle will have to be cut or ditched in favor of two levers.

Thanks,
Todd

same exact problem I had when I put in my sparco corsa. The sparco mounts holes didn't accomodate the width of the seat, even at its widest setting. I drilled my old corbeau base to accomodate the holes and it works fine. I have a brand new, laser cut flat seat mount if anyone wants one

Have you tried swapping the side brackets Left-to-Right and mounting them inside out? That might give you a quarter inch per side (1/2" total).

i tried mounting them inside out, but it gave me less room. haven't tried mounting from left to right as I thought it wouldn't make a difference
