1999 Impreza, retarded timing
Have a normally aspirated 1999 Impreza AWD, auto trans, 2.2. No mods of any sort. Daughter bought car recently.
Compression 170-180 each cylinder.
Fuel pressure 40psi, rises under load.
Timing belt spot on.
not exaust leaks or rattles
new oxygen sensor
new knock sensor
verified engine and ecu grounds
no induction leaks
pcv valve clean and functioning
no code present unless I artificially produce them
updated ecu supposed to eliminate knock problems
Scanning with Snap-on MT2500 with generic OBD 2
o2 switches fine at idle or part throttle while sitting.
Car appears to go rich under load-driving,
STFT goes to -4 to 5
Severe hesitation up to about 2500-3000 rpm. Timing retards to -6 degrees.
As soon as higher rpm is reached car takes off, timing moves up to +15 degrees.
Need some ideas, don't have any more hair to pull out.
