Default Wheels that fit the 05 STI

maybe a mod can sticky this for awhile so we can get some candidates on here.

So far, we know that the new 05 STI has different wheels from the 04 STI in the following respects:

2004 STI: 17x7.5, +53 5x100
2005 STI: 17x8, +53 5x114.3

Therefore, we must begin this game of finding wheels that fit once again. To find a list of wheels that fit the 2004 STI, please reference this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...at+fit+the+sti

I will begin this list with all the choices that Tirerack now has posted for the 2005 STI:

17" Wheels
ASA ST4 17x8 image
Mille Miglia Action 17x8 image
Mille Miglia HT3 17x8 image
O.Z. Superleggera 17x8 image

18" Wheels
ASA CL20 18x8 image
Moda R10 18x8 image
SSR GT1 18x8 image
SSR GT7 18x8 image
Volk TE37 18x8.5 +50 image

19" Wheels
Mille Miglia Action 19x8 image
Moda R10 19x8 image

What we really need are more choices. I like the Moda R10s a lot, but they weigh 29 lbs or so each. Ouch. HPH

A lot of Volks now fit the 05 STI. So it should open up a range of choices.

The main problem I have with all the wheels I've seen on tire rack are they are too skinny. Or better I should say the requirements I have for the wheels I want are:
Forged
at least 245 width tire

Could someone tell me if
Volk TE37 18x8.5 w/245/40/18 fit the 05 STi?! And clear brembo's

I am assuming the offset should be +50.

Thanks

a 17x8 will fit perfectly with a 245/40 or 245/45 (the latter if you want a larger diameter tire for taller effective gearing).

In 18", the tire choices kind of suck if you want wider than 225. For example, if you wanted a 245/40R18, that's bigger diameter than stock by a big margin, which is okay if you don't mind the longer gearing.

Does anyone know which ones will clear the brakes though? There are a crapload of wheels from Japanese manufacturers that are the right bolt pattern and offset as its the same as a number of Acuras and the S2000 (and probably some other cars), but brake clearance may be an issue.

you never asked that... but now that you have, a 255/40R17 will be just about as wide as you want to go on that size.

Nick,

I would have thought by now you caught "ScoobyPilot's" post on the Imprezawrxsti.com forums. Good news, you can finally add a set of Volks to that list!:

model: TE37
size: 18x8.5
offset: 50

Confirmed? Oh you know it! Thanks to "ScoobyPilot" for this pic of his '05 STi on Volk TE37's:

Can you please tell me what size tires are on those rims?

I hope they are bigger than 225s

I want those rims with 245/40/18s

Thanks.

nhluhr thanx for the reply... i guess one more thing I should have noted I am wondering about the widest tire size on 18s. but I guess if 255 40 or 45 would fit then 245 40 should too ( i got my fingers corssed )

AAhhh! The SST GT7s disappeared from the Tirerack choices for the 05 STi.

Luke: are they discontinued, or do they not fit,or what? HPH
