Question oil question

This is for anyone living in really hot and dry places(phoenix, las vegas, death valley, hell...).

What weight of oil do you use? I have a MY00 and am wondering if 10W40 is the correct weight.

"hell" heh

I am in Phoenix, and have been using 10W40 so far, no problems.

I am going to switch to synthetic on my next oil change at 9,000 miles.

If you want synthetic, Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic is the best, but at $4.50/quart you might want to use a cheaper brand.

I am using cheapo Mobil dino oil right now.

I will be switching to Mobil 1 synthetic at the next change. I have never had any problems with it in my other vehicles.

Even with sythetic I will probably change my oil frequently (3k-4k miles.) I got that from my Dad I think. He is having a tough time with his BMW that uses the original oil for 15k miles before it should be changed.
