Thumbs down Richmond driver manners.....

Is it just me or is it that just about every driver in Richmond have no idea what driver manners are? These are the most inconsiderate, lame, people I've ever seen! I could swear they all got their driver's licenses from cereal boxes or something.

bleh sorry for rambling. Almost got nailed by people running red lights and rolling stops 3 times today in Richmond.

Most drivers are like that in Richmond because they just got their license here and never driven in HK before. Some cause caucasian are the same as well overall, Richmond drivers driving etiquette is really poor. Always almost get hit by them everyday I drive on the road.

eh, i would think it would be worse if they DID get their licenses in HK. Their manners are worse over there.

I wish it would be like Europe though. That way people would have to take 6 month courses, and even then it's conditional. Plus, they move to the right lane when they see you coming up. Here they're just clueless.

Driving manners is one thing and knowing how to drive is another.

Taxis are an excellent example of people that know how to drive but have BADDDDDD driving manners. Like forcing themselves into lanes and not waiving thankyou..... or double/triple lane changes cutting you off to make an off ramp.....they do it on purpose.

Most "N" drivers aren't experienced enough to judge the abilties of their cars such as braking wayyyyyyy to early forcing us to slam on our brakes or driving 60 on knight street bridge in the left lane (common you all drive faster than 60 on knight bridge, so don't flame me for speeding).

People that used to drive in HK are pretty good, manuevering though dense traffic and avoid hitting the thousands of people.
(picture after english bay fireworks in the summer). They are probably better than us in that senario. But like imprezaTs says some are probably intimdated driving on the opposite side of traffic like most of us would too if we went to England (what the hell is a "roger on the round about"? and a "duel carriage way"?)

Just relax, and don't be a redneck bad drivers are everywhere.

You should try driving in Whalley, drunks in old beaters with no insurance and no front teeth.

it's what they are use to. try being polite in hong kong, and you'll be waiting at a stop sign for hours. it's not just driving. I had an old asian lady push me out of the way when she was trying to get on a bus.....I wasn't even trying to get on the bus

Richmond drivers are the worst. Driving down #3 road is like riding the bumper cars at the P.N.E. Except that old chinese lady in the mercedes is going to plow you!

I feel better now. Yeah, I did sell the RS. Stepped into something better

I remember back in the day when I used to live in Germany. Very well coordinated drivers there. I noticed on the unrestricted parts of the autobahn, there were hardly ever any cars on the fast lane. And if there were, they made sure they had the displacement to stay there!

Necromancer, was that a light hearted jab? btw, what car did you finally get?

yes i must confess richmond driving skills overall suck

especially ppl from HK that dont have the faintest clue how to drive. they cant push the pedal down far enough to go over 60 and r idiotic when trying to park.

i usually avoid where bad drivers conglomerate thats all.

is it just me or is it that they are really obsessed with back-in parking, no matter how snarfed up the parking lot is? And what is UP with those godawful sun visors that cover the whole face, and look like they about to fall off?!

After driving in HK a few times, Richmond doesn't seem that bad. Now I expect people to cut me off and such. Even tho I have a HK DL, I don't venture out to Kowloon like Mok Kong since I have yet to master the a-hole driving skills. If you recall the ICBC licensing fraud case, a lot of those involve are Chinese. Wouldn't be surprise that some of them in Richmond got their license that way.

if u have seen the parking lots in hk, u will know y they are obesessed with back-in...

my experience tells me that backing in is easier and faster (in hk of course)... in van, u get do whatever the hell u want since parking spaces are relatively big..

That's one of the funnies observations you can make in Richmond. Those C-Lai's w/ the "welders mask" visors. bwahahha.

The driving school was chinese, yes, but the person that worked at ICBC was White. FYI

and as for me working in TV News, I see ALOT of car accidents, and there is not one race that gets into more car accidents than others..... in fact I spend most of my "news tracking" time in Vancouver and Surrey.

So Please stop being so redneck with this thread.

Richmond sucks, but I find Vancouver is just as bad. Since I moved down town from PoCo I don't drive as much but I get to honk a lot more.

Just this morning I was driving on Gilbert coming to Blundell on the green light for me cruising at 50-60km/hr. I saw a asian female driving a Camry stopped at red light and sees me coming so she proceeds to step on the gas and blocked off the right lane. Lucky for me I was on the left lane to begin with but I still swerved a bit to avoid hitting her because she just barely stopped in the middle of the intersection.

People should get their eyes check if they can't tell red or green at the traffic light.
