Default OT: Looking for a good noodle house

Eh, like the title says. I think I've found a lot of the good taiwanese style places. I'm trying to find a good Vietnamese one. Like, Pho.

I made the mistake of walking into a random shop on Kingsway, hoping to find a good Pho restaurant (u know what they say: the more a-shambles the restaurant is, the more delicious the food. Or so they say). I should've left when I saw a the owner's kids scooting around the restaurant in those wheeled carts, and some god awful vietnamese drama playing on the TV. We ordered the noodles, and got.....MSG flavored hot water with some blackened green onions tossed in for good measure. It was that awful...

So tell me where all the good ones are!

I've tried Pho 99 on kingsway, and Pho Hoa also on kingsway (both are around metrotown)...both are good...I prefer Pho 99 though (they have a better peanut sauce)

I think the Phnom Penh is the best(but they're more cambodian). Pho Hoa.... I dunno, I used to go there a lot, but they just look so dirty.

Phnom Penh doesn't have enough MSG in their soup. Its just not the same as Pho Van or Pho Hoa.

There's a good (real small) Chinese one on the NW block on Main and 33rd.

not enough MSG?! I try to avoid it as much as I can. Everytime I eat pho here I end up smacking my lips for an hour afterwards cuz it makes me thirsty.

Well, I went to a restaurant the other day and ordered something, but then they said they gave the noodles to somebody else! Why do I always have that kind of luck???

My personal favourite is West Lake in Richmond.
Just off No. 3 Rd in Empire Plaza, at the opposite end of the building than Hon's (that place scares me )

No one mentions "Pho Khan Ho" in North Van, or "Pho Bich Nga" on Kingsway....the two best names in PHO!

Yup, and it's actually quite a clean place too. Been going there for about 8 years now
Oh yeah, I'm usually the only white guy in there so it must be pretty good.

Hmm...thanks for the pointers guys. Now I know where to go when I'm hankering for the stuff. I knew I could count on the nabisco boys!

I should add that I cook professionally, so I'm pretty picky about what I eat...
