Can't choose
ok I have these things lined up for my car but I can't chosse
Intake: Weapon R or JC intake (I also want to use that hood scoop do I have to a stage two turbo???) Exhaust: Stromung dual or singal (I hear that the dual is better but there are pops) with the Weapon R intake Or the JC catback thingy with the JC intake UD Pully??? if I do this with this mess with my light or a/c??? I heard mixed reviews finally I was thinking P1 with STi Motor and Transmission Mounts, STi Front Strut Tower Brace, JC Sports 21mm Rear Sway Bar??? what do you think????

After what I read from JC Sports on the last major JC Sports thread, I have no respect for them. I would advise you forget ordering from them, unless you plan on walking into there shop to purchase (which is in CO or CA, i cant remember).

Okay, let me take a crack at this...
Re: intakes...Weapon R is cool if you have a MY00/98, but for MY99s it's a good idea to keep it stable in some way. If you want to use the hood scoop, look into the custom ram air intakes. Templar had one going for a while but he took it apart. If you want your air intake to sit up there he may be the guy to talk to. JC Sports is the mystery company. They seem to get bad reviews. And when I mean bad, I mean never ship your stuff and overcharge your credit card bad. Personally, I have no opinion of em, but I do know that trustworthiness in a product vendor is a very good idea when you're spending as much money as we spend. Dale Teague's a good guy and Mike Shields dealt with me fairly too. ISR Performance gives prompt responses and has a huge selection. It's all up to you on where to order...back to topic. Re: exhaust...depends, you want loud, go with Stromung. You want not so loud, go with the STi. There are also many kinds of universal and not so universal mufflers. Tanabe and Apex'i make loud, typical Asian import lookin' mufflers though the upturned Apex'i is pretty good looking. And 5zigen is getting great reviews from those who have them. BTW, you can get a Borla catback as well, or you can make your own. Lots of muffler choices. If I could have anything, I'd get the STi with custom 2.5 inch tubing just because it looks so good. The tip has the STi logo engraved on the side to show off. Very sharp. The pulley AFAIK can mess with your light. I dunno about A/C but the lights supposedly dim on some peoples' cars. I don't think that's a worry because it hasn't happened at all with mine. Just make sure you either know what you're doing installing it or have someone who knows what they're doing. And remember: bring a breaking bar. I heard the tranny mounts are great. The strut tower brace is cheaper from Cusco and it's the same ticket. if I were you I'd lay off the struts and go for springs or something similar. And let me put it this way: the WRX with all that power and finesse still only uses a 21 mm sway. Don't overdo it. My 18mm is fine with me. Have a good one. |

Intake? Go with the Weapon R, I did and love it. SPOMotorsports is who I bought from, they answered every EMail I sent promptly and when I finally did order it, it was at my door in 2 days. As far as the hood scoop, I removed mine just to get more air into the engine compartment and hooked up a custom cold air extension on my Weapon R that runs into the fender well and to the vent in the front bumper, works great and sounds even better!!!

from what i read about rallispec, there a good company
i called them asking for a exhaust, they went ahead and searched for one, 3 weeks later i called back and they still remembered my name.(no luck with the exhaust though.) they answered all my questions, never gave me a line of bull, and i enjoyed talking to them too. because of this, im waiting to buy a exhaust from them as soon as apexi comes out with there new muffler (unless anyone has reason why i should buy a stromung) thanks, space |
