Question Where to purchase an Impreza

I live in San Diego now, but am moving to the Bay Area at the end of this month..and I am gonna buy a 2.5 RS 5 speed, 2 door. Can anyone suggest a good dealership? Thanks a lot and I look forward to using this site often!

Marin Mazda Subaru in San Rafael. Talk to Jim. He's Da Man. I have bought 3 cars from him and he alwasy gives killer deals. Service and Parts departments are also very very nice. Tell them Alex sent you. I can even go there with you and introduce you to them. I know them all. Let me know.

Thumbs up

Just last week I bought my MY2K coupe from Ron Price. Salesman was Eddie O'Sullivan. It took me a few days, but I got a below-invoice price.

However, be warned that if you want one off the lot, you're going to have to deal with the options -- when I was there, all of the RS models they had in stock had the security upgrade, radio upgrade, etc., which they expect you to pay for. (i.e. my below-invoice price was still more expensive than the invoice price of a base RS with no options.)

Overall I'm satisfied, never felt that they were lying to me. Feel free to email if you want details.

I agree with rrsettgast, Carlsen Subaru (Gary Didlock) in Redwood City. Policy is $500 over invoice, no BS at all. I ordered my 99 RS, took 2 months to arrive.

Also, I recently had the clutch assembly replaced for free at Diablo Subaru in Walnut Creek (due to shuddering problem that shouldn't exist on '00 model) and the service was pretty good.

When I went to Stevens Creek they wanted 25k. The worst part was they had no RSs in stock, but they offered to let me test drive a customers car. I guess this is why there customer satification index is 30% where all of the other local Subaru dealers are in the 90s.

Cool

I went to stevens creek and they told me 25k and I laughed and told them 19k and in 5minutes we did it...since then I (or friends) bought two more (yea Alex , I tied you) one of which was a 2001 forester that wasn't supposed to be sold (yet).

Sweet! Thanks for all the input. Needless to say I am extrememly excited to get this machine in my garage. The only option I really want are the security upgrade...stereo stuff I would rather put in aftermarket...which leads me to another question. If you buy a 2.5 RS without the tweeters, are the holes for 'em already there? Or will I have to cut holes myself when I install tweeters?

Thanks again for all your help, hope to be in my car soon!

PS: I had to get rid of my Honda...about time huh?

When I get back to the Bay Area I will be sure to let you know...sounds like you would be a good asset. I actually worked at a Sub. dealership here in SD for a SHORT time as a salesman...but any help to get a good deal is totally appreciated!

I got mine at Stevens Creek. Got it for 2.5% over invoice. They had to dealer swap for it so I put a deposit for it on Sat. They brought it in on Sunday. Absolutely no hassles
