Interesting conversation I had with my dad the other day

We were driving to my apartment in my parnet's Avalon (yuck). Now, anyone that knows Morgantown, WV, knows that it's about as hilly as San Francisco. My apartment happens to be up a decent-sized hill and after a fresh rain and a V6 with FWD and stock tires, you can expect some tire slippage.

After the inevitable happens, my mom screams "Randy! Be careful!"

So my dad's clever response is "Sorry, dear, your car doesn't have front wheel drive."

Me: Actually, this car is 100% FWD.

Him: No, that can't be.

Me:

A better and more appropriate response is that possibly it doesn't have the optional traction control, or that the tires have negative suck and are low on gription.

or that while accelerating up a hill, weight is transferred to the rear of the car and away from the drive wheels, lowering the coefficient of friction between them and the road, which is already reduced as a result of damp pavement and the longest sentence evar.

It has traction control. I doubt the tires have ever been changed since 2002.

Some of the hills down there are just plain nuts (from what I've seen of Piedmont, Luke and Westernport anyway). Every time I taken the WRX down, Sarah and her brother (both staunch automatic transmission drivers) think I'm a flippin superhero when I drive up some of the inclines from a dead stop.

I can see how a FWD car would have to crawl up those roads when it's raining.

i stubbed my toe the other day and it ended up facing the wrong direction so i had to go to the er so the doc could pop it back in place. now it's all bruised and hurty.
