Post Why did the battery explode?

My dad just tried to start his Nissan Quest van and BOOM! The battery exploded! Why?

When a battery is on a charger, one of the chemical by-products of the charging is hydrogen gas (very explosive) that's probably why it went boom.....but as to why a hydrogen build-up in the first place...dunno.

maybe because it was a "mini van" or the tire pressure was low.
