Default help: sub doesn't make any bass

Perhaps someone can help me diagnose the problem?
I can hear my sub playing music but it doesn't make any bass.

I've tried:
1) the fuse is not blown
2) the amp is receiving power
3) swapped to another amp and no bass still

My setup is stock HU to Line out convertor to amp to sub.
I am guessing either
1) sub is broken
2) line out convertor is broken

what do you guys think?

thanks!

What is the crossover on the amp set to?

Also, try unplugging one RCA from the amp and see if the bass improves. If you wired one channel of the line out converter backwards you will get cancellation and won't get much sound.

Well, that is definately more helpful info for troubleshooting. Can you say what kind of amp it is (specific model), what kind of sub it is (specific model) and how everything is wired up?

I would be quick to guess your sub is blown. If anyone else has a sub with the correct ohm setup to test that theory with; or vice versa, if you can stick your sub on someone else's amp...

The protect light on the amp isn't on is it?

Have you checked the wiring on the sub itself? Maybe the wire fell out of one of the terminals

Sorry i am very new to audio so I don't know the brands, i got them used. Okay i will check and see if the amp has a protect light. I assumed the light = power on.

if one of the wires fell out would the amp still play music? cuz mine plays music but makes no bass

I didn't even catch the part about it playing music....

Sounds like you have a highpass filter on. Have you checked the amp's built in filters (if it has any) to make sure it's not set to HP or HPF?

perhaps it is my line out convertor that is malfunctioning then. i'll take the dash apart and check that thing out again.
