WRX engine swap update
Okay.. I talked to Ryan and Kyle from CTC Motorsports (Texas?) this weekend about their WRX EJ20 upgrade. All I can say is wow!
Kyle seems pretty sure on what they're doing and blew my mind on the complexity of it all. I didn't write down anything, so this is from memory. Somebody correct me if they've heard different. Thier conversion includes the Engine, Tranny, Intercooler, Ecu, crossmember, sub frame, rear(driveaxles, links). Optional stuff includes WRX suspension upgrade, seats, blah, blah. It was more $$ than I planned on spending, but after he explained the ECU problem to me, I realized that I'm too lazy not to spend that much. CTC is doing Ryan's car first, and they estimate up to two weeks on hooking up the ECU alone!! Of course, after the Ryan's car is done, they'll have an better idea of how the swap goes, and have a map drawn out for the ECU install. All in all, these guys seem serious about what they do. I don't remember the phone number (check classified section), but they do have a web site coming up soon. Just thought I'd share my information with the rest of the family.

It sounds real good did they mention what series of engines they get and what was the cost of the complete job? you can e-mail me privately if you want I am also very curious about this I haven't decided on what to do yet EJ25 or EJ20 both have lots of potential stored in thier little blocks I am just glad a few new tuners have opened up so close to home I live 2 hours from Cobb and CTC looks like I will have lots of fun either way I go.

Why bother with the EJ20 ecu? Why not go aftermarket programmable?

shiv,
That would be an alternative way to go but besides wiring it up you still have the task of tuning, let alone finding a base program and tuning it to the fuel quality thats available here. |

Compared to the rest of the installation, tuning is the fun part!
