Default Canada gets screwed when it comes to the Baja.

I wish up here we had the same Baja choice and pricing that you have down there.

We get the funny looking ones. And they are expensive too. And no turbo model.

our colour choices are:

I guess someone at Subaru forgot that Canada has a big market for small pickup trucks.

So why doesn't subaru offer a box lid as standard, something that can fold out of the way?

Now I hear they are going to drop them, so we will never get the nice ones up here.

Oh well.

We only get the 2003 paint job with the excessive silver cladding. No nice mono tones, not even for the 2004.

all yellow would be great.
all silver would be great.
all red would be great.

otherwise it is funny looking, like someone drove through a puddle of silver paint.

They cost 20% more up here too. After factoring in the exchange rate.

I know this might be overstating the obvious, but I had an estimate written Thursday by a local PPG body shop, to paint the "excessive silver cladding" on my 2003 Black/Silver Baja.

They quoted $400, any color I preferred (I think I'm going with a dark charcoal). They'll warranty the paint for 5 years, and it'll take 2 days (there's no body work to do). They'll even be removing the cladding to do so, so no bizarre mask lines.

Just a thought, wondering if anyone else has given it any pondering?

Default I thought Canada...

stopped importing Bajas, and that the one's currently on sale are leftover '03 models.

My Baja is red and silver... I like it though. It's good to know that it wouldn't be terribly expensive if I wanted to change the color to all red. ***By the way, what kind of wax is safe for the cladding? I waxed the red part yesterday and held off on the silver.

Yes Bob I found that out today when I went in to look at the 05's.

Canada never made for sale an 04 Baja. Place I went, Subaru of Calgary said they never sold a single Baja.

I wonder how rare they are, more so then the very limited SVX run?

I see that they also make a tonnue cover for them. I don't think that was an option up here.

Anyway I really like the Baja but we never really had a chance, price wise or availability up here to buy them.

oh well another Subaru bites the dust.

I am almost sure that I will be buying an 05 Legacy 2.5i Black on Black. The extra $9000.00 for the Turbo just doesn't add up.

I test drive one next week, I sat in it today. I'm pretty sure I will be buying it this month.

$400US for a paint job on the trim, sounds great!
Did you find out what colour it is under the trim? If it is the colour you want, you might be able to just take the cladding off.
