Where was everyone at the Dragon?

Where were you guys? John, Salem, Jeremy and I went out today and saw a few subies, but not what we were expecting. DId we miss the meet? Was there one, if so where?
saw 4 accidents. One involving 2 STI's.

they were prolly mostly on the Cherohala today....did you go to Fontana village at all??

Yeah a lot of people went down the cherohala and ate at bistro by the river or something like that....I got back to the dragon bought 4 something....

we were on the dragon from about 9:30 to 1:40. The 2 STI's were blue and white. i dont know what happened. The blue ones front end was all torn up, and the white ones side was all damaged. Saw a Miata flipped over on its roof, well it was a convertable with the top down.

and some biker wrecked too. but it was fun.

no we didnt go down to the village. i wish we would have.

It was a gorgeous day, but there were so many wrecks!
You guys should have stayed for the photoshoot at the village, I'm pretty sure all the subies were there, like 50 of them.

nope, Eric survived unscathed. Although, he did follow me out of the forest

Actually, onlt one STi was hit (read: not wrecked). The blue one was a regular WRX. We saw it on the flatbed as we were pulling into Fontana. As the story goes, the blue WRX came around a curve over-center and sideswiped the SILVER STi.

Supposedly, the STi was not running with us, today.

Other incidents I heard:
-biker died. My condolences

-Miata flipped on roof. Driven by a couple of young (18-ish) ladies. Critically injured. Had to airlifted. I hope they're OK
-WRX caught drag-racing on 28. Driver was hauled off to jail. Serves him right. I overheard another conversation of other drivers. They were snickering at the 'ricey' Subaru folk for drag-racing. Way to ruin our rep, BOZO

-GreenMarineSVX (Chris) overcooked a turn and stuff the SVX. Chris is OK.
-Trent (WRXPkr) killed a wheel bearing

Overall, not a good deay

Let's pray for those less fortunate today and hope the others keep the shiny side up tomorrow

Yeah,
I kept hearing sirens from the house, knew that some thing was up. It is so easy to over do it on that road...i definetly needs to be treated with respect.
my condolences to the biker and the miata ladies, that truly sucks.

28 is pretty well patrolled - no surpise on someone getting busted there - ruined our rep indeed, I have to drive up there a lot, last thing I want is extra scrutiny from the cops because I drive a WRX, thanks.

The 2 girls in the Miata are fine! They werent airlifted and werent badly injured. Some how they got outta there with just a few cuts and a bad headache

I am glad to here they were okay. The wife spotted the wrecked Miata on the side of the road. We were running with Opie's group after helping Will and his GL when we came across GreenMarineSVX. It sucked that he crashed but I'm glad he was okay.

Hadn't heard about the drag racer. Last night around 10:30 crash and I were doing night photography at the lookout on the dragon. One of the sv650 group stopped and we talked a while. Apperas that the one killed was just up from the crossroads when he had a BAD off.

Good, this stuff makes me scared when I drive w/ the hard top off. Not that the fiberglass is going to do much in the area of protection...

Get the roll bar. Those girls were lucky to have their heads.

We drove by a few minutes after it happened. Cured me of the dragon real quick. The track is a much safer place. Maybe next year we could organize a track day/weekend at Road Atlanta instead.

I like this idea.... However, if you wreck on Road Atlanta, 99.999% of insurance policy's won't cover it.. Because it is true "Racing"

It is unfortunate about the wrecks. However, the Dragon will ALWAYs be an annual tradition.

The story behind the STIs is that one of them (idiot) was driving over the double yellows and clipped the other nearly head on. What are you going to do when you have an idiot that does not know how to drive safely and responsibly? He was a teen, unexperienced, without skills, and without common sense.

Honestly, the whole thing just pisses me off.
