Well I can say this as I have a WRX and my old man has a S2000. We came up to a light on a highway and both had to wait to turn left. The S2000 had my Bro driving with my father as a passenger and they took off. I turned after them onto the highway and they left me, not bad but still! That was with only me in my car and 2 people in the Honda?! I have driven it plenty of times and it will rip when your up there MPH wise but, it is not a car to launch with. Everytime I'm at E town I see guy's doing 15's in there S2000's.

It didn't take to many cheap mods like an exhaust to take care of the slowness of the WRX as compared to the S2000. Everything is a fortune for those things! Dose handle nice tho and I wish the 6MT I have now shifted as nice

I agree. For a drag car, in terms of 1/4 mile, it's not hte car for it. It's an autoX, road race, top end car... and the WRX will not compare to it in most of those respects. From personal experience, 165 in an s2k comes on mighty fast... and scary.

I owned an "02" S2000 and I miss it, but I wouldn't trade my STI back for it though. I had the $$$ to keep it but I didn't. Should of thought. Will be looking for a used one in the future.

You will lose to both at this speed due to that both the RSX-S and S2K make all their power at higher RPMs and their gearing and aerodynamics are alot better than the WRX. From a dead stop it will take till 100mph before they pass you though.

This is interesting, although I dont like drag racing, I did try to race my friend with RSX-S. He has Race header, straight thru catback and cold air intake. I have full catless w/ prodrive rear and K&N panel filter. (both cars have no engine management)

We started when I was in 1st gear at 4500 rpm, I know its a bad rpm to start, but this is our only chance to try and run through 3rd gear. Needless to say, we were DEAD EVEN at the end of 3rd gear with no chance to try for a second run.
Mods for mods, he has a comptech race headers while I have stock headers and technically stock intake. So the outcome may be different if I were to have hks manifold and lets say cold air or shorty intake. I am not that great of a shifter when it comes to dragging, so that might be another factor, but overall I have a lot of respect for rsx-s. As for s2k, I have nothing to say since I never raced one from a roll.

when my car was stock from a roll of 50 mph.. i handed the rsx-s his ass to him on a plate.. the s2k will def. beat at the top end.. but the rsx-s has no chance w/o mods done to it....

Default End the Madness

My friend got a WRX when they first came out. Unless it was from a standstill the car didn't impress me at all it felt doggy as hell.

At the time I had a del Sol VTEC with AEM CAI and about 75lbs of weight reduction and i'm only 140lbs so he had an extra 80lbs on himself. Anyway we raced from a roll at 40mph to 100mph. I did the three honks when i hit the gas i jumped on him by a few feet probably just reaction time. But we pulled equal till i hit 4th at about 88mph then he had me by about a car but wasn't gaining.

So you see the RSX-S has about 40+at the wheel more with probably 300lbs extra weight but a lot lower gearing so it should be close but no cigar for the Rex.

Then that kids brother got an S2k and it was no contest he pulled away rather effortlessly. And sorry guys but the S2k won at the strip too they lined up and everything S2K 14.3@100 and the WRX 14.5@95.

When i got my STi i raced the S2k from a roll at 25mph and it was like he hit the brakes the gap wasn't even believable i thought he messed up but he didn't. Then we raced from 40mph again lights out.

I'd love to race a stock NSX with the STi. I've raced LT4 vettes and smoked them and LS1's camaro's that trap 107-108 and been dead even no winner. I beat a C5 auto(iwant a shot at a 6spd) so i think the NSX will go down at least at relitively safe speeds like 125-140mph i think after that even w/o the governor the NSX would eventually get ahead.

The STi is quite the beast even from a roll because the torque multiplication of the 6spd is huge and you just jump right ahead of cars at the start of a roll.

I raced my buddies VR4 with the basic boltons and a pair of 18g's at 14psi. He runs 12.1's@112 and starting from 40mph i was pulling on him till 75-80 then he ripped by me and pulled pretty good but not like you would think paper racing.

I did not read the whole post due to patience... but why the hell wouldn't you mod the wrx and spank the rest of the bunch.

edit: I have beat both cars stock, but it was close... but they wouldn't stand a chance anymore since I did something about it

The WRX travels travels from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and from 0-100 in 16.0 seconds. It takes the WRX 10.3 seconds to travel from 60 to 100mph.

Using the same methodology, it takes the RSX-S 11.3 seconds to travel from 60 to 100mph. The S2000 takes only 8.7 seconds to travel from 60 to 100mph.
that is a good bunch of info right there.

rsx-s will not beat a WRX from a roll. i can keep up with rsx-s from a roll with my crap box, through 4th gear, then 5th it the rsx-s walks away. wrx, the 3rd gear starts pulling away from me nicely. s2000 is superior up top. and se-r...beating a wrx...that is laughable.

in terms of racing s2000 and wrx in the twisties, both cars does pretty well. changing tires on the WRX and add a little stiffer suspension would help. the s2000 suspension is insanely stiff for a stock car.it is really aggressive coming from something out of the showroom. i have two friends with s2000s (one had tein RA's) and we go on the backroads together all the time. i can stay with them all the way. (i have eibach springs and kyb gr-2 shocks and toyo proxy 4's) i just cant be afraid of my tires squeeling and keeping WOT through some corners.

it takes time to get used to road racing an AWD car because you can't be affraid of WOT sometimes through corners because you have to or else...understeer.AWDrifts are great!

same goes with the s2000. that car is so tailhappy, and is extremely scary to drive fast through the twisties. following my friends, i notice that their tails are extremely unstable. sharp corners are crazy, and one of my friends s2000 is gettign fixed right now cuz he hit a tree. he was doing a backroad run one night and took a usual turn, about 30mph, there was some gravel on the road, the tail got lose and BAM. TREE.

so saying an s2000 can own a WRX on the backroads isnt necessarily true.

my RS keeps up with s2ks in the backroads all day long. and most of the time, it depends on the driver.

think about it, imprezas are used for rally, backroads is an imprezas home.

FWIW, I raced a RSX typeS at the dragstrip last week. Of course I obliterated his ET, but I also bested his mph by 7mph. So approaching 100mph (for me), I was still pulling pretty hard (The mph difference didn't decrease for me in the second 1/8th). BUT, I do have up/down pipes and a boost controller....but for some reason I'm turning slower mph's than with just the free hose mods.

I'd reset your ECU, then do the "Shiv" ecu reset. You're either in the low det map or have learned knock correction.

All they do in wrx stories is say how they beat them from a roll then say "the awd system is so heavy and with our 3rd gear the awd drivetrail loss we can beat them." Little do they realize gearing plays a big part in why we can still beat cars. We are geared for low end power (aka 1-4 gears) anything after that is where our drive train loss is actually gonna come into play. So yes eventually the rsx will catch the wrx and pass it, but that will be past 100 mph and honestly if I actually do race that's where I stop because anything l faster then that is just dumb.

i raced a hatchback civic with a H22, header in take and exhaust, and i have a 04 wrx with just cat back exhuast and boost controller, running 16 p.s.i. on high.. I took him hard on the launch about a full car length. all the way to fourth gear before he passed me. so like supraru said. if its quarter mile runs ur looking for the rex will smoke the v-tecs. even from a roll i had him.. but they do pull on u when u hit fourth gear

WOW ...this thread took a long time to read..especially at 7am EST!

Fun topic.....but we all know that stock for stock a WRX will tear up an RSX Type S and we also know that stock for stock a WRX can only hang with an S2K up until 75MPH...after that the WRX is history Sad, but true.

On the other hand,

last week some guy in a turbocharged RSX was commin up on me after sitting at a set of lights, and just clearing the intersection...he came close and let off (so i can hear the BOV) he asks me if I want to go from a roll and I was like yeah sure lets go from 40MPH ( little does he know my sleeper has a fully done stage 4 with VF22), so anyhow he hit it and as he did I was like ***??? thats it? I actually put my car in high boost mode for this?? Dudes....I ripped him a new a$$hole, and flew by him so hard and so fast he had no idea what was going on. We gave eachother props and went our own ways.

Th reason I told this little story is to let everyone know that WRX's are not chump cars on the top end if you mod properly and have a larger turbo....the right setup can pretty much hang with anything.

Doesnt the latest model NSX only have 290 Hp and like 275 ft lbs of tg?????? Just curious...at those numbers in a straight line Im guessing the STI would tap dance on an NSX......but I hear that NSX are fierce handlers probably beat it on a road coarse.

Scoobs2002: those high compression honda motors usually dont make gobs of power w/ basic bolt on turbo kits. Prime example: my roomate put the generic t3/t4 turbo kit w/ fmic on his late 90's civic hatchback. After some aggressive tuning he made about 40whp more, definately felt faster.... it just wasnt. I'm not suprsied the RSX wasnt that fast. Also: VF22- top end? Come on, time to get a GREEN

At Fontana last night the s2000 ran a 14.8
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
RSX-S 15's
the slowest wrx time was high 14's
I am not impressed with the s2000 or the rsx-s even on the twisty's
most of the cobra's and ss's were runnning low 14's to high 13's
13.8 with a bad launch in my wrx
there's my 2 cents
