Default How do you like the '05 WRX changes?

First of all, I settled for PSM in my '04 - I wanted grey, but Subaru didn't make grey.

Now they have grey... Doh!

Anyway, now I just saw the changes in the '05 interior, and I also saw that they are coming standard with PAINTED SIDESKIRTS!

Subaru is killing me!

Painted side skirts!

The change in the interior doesn't matter to me cause I'm not a big fan of the steering wheel. But the new grey color and the painted side skirts are a nice addition.

Is this new grey color on the website??

Yes, the new color is on the site...

You don't like the new wheel? I think the 3 spokes are sportier looking than our 4.

I checked out the site and the silver and grey color are hardly distinguishable on the site. Probably have to see it on person or in a photo to see the difference

Dont forget the smoked headlights . Still has those ornage markers in it though.

I went to look at 05s yesterday since I am most likely going to buy one soon. But now with all this talk about the new '06 I might just wait for that. I think the new wheels actually look BETTER then the 02-04 wheels. Regardless, I woudl throw on 17" Rotas ASAP

I don't like them at all. I hate the wheel, I don't like that all subarus and even the saabaru now have the same interior, I don't like the ricey 2.5 RS packages, I don't like that they gave it a 2nd synchro on first instead of stronger gears -- spoiled brat n00bs and girls need to learn how to double clutch into first instead of needing a mechanical aid. Painted side skirts is nice. The smoked headlights look like azz. I like the quicker rack but that is on the STI only.

I think the WRX is going in the wrong direction, towards the common car (rice) and away from the rally car heritage and enthusiast ownership.

You can get the RS with everything to make it look like an STI, wheels, wing, badges, bumper, etc.

BINGO, hit it right on the head, theyre making it into more of a common sedan than the sporty trendsetter it was when it came out. I still kind of like the 04, but the 05 with the new interior and all.. just doesnt seem like the sports car it is.. it dulls it down or something.

and i def dont think the subaru will look like that in 06, sorry

It's good for Subaru to make them attractive to many different kinds of groups, but WRXs are becoming all too common. Just today I had a ricer ask me if it was "one of those WRXs" and if it "had turbo". As if I didn't get enough *******s bothering me when I had my old turbo civic.

I still doubt that. It was supposed to happen for 05 but didn't, it was supposed to happen for ALL Subaru's, but didn't. Its just too much of a massive change for it to happen I think.

Maybe you can enlighten us on how the WRX is becoming common rice? I fail to see your point. Subaru added a few new options that people wanted, such as a sunroof and heated seats. How is this damaging the WRX's rally heritage?

Now if they put softer suspension, took away the manual tranny, made it FWD, dumped the turbo, added 19" chrome wheels, and a fart can exhuast, I could see your point.

I respect the rally heritage of the WRX and Subaru as a whole, but since I don't rally, I'd like my car to be at least capable of being driven on the street in relative comfort.

Subaru knows that most people aren't rally enthusiasts, and well... they want to sell cars. It's a business.

The main traits of the rally heritage are still found in the WRX - I don't see how changing the look of the car slightly, or adding a cup holder here and there is going to change anything.

Yeah then it would be a VW Jetta GLI but without the shoddy reliability.
