Have a Nice Day? So they're view Reagan's casket about 5 miles from here

I don't have any desire to wait in line for 9 hours to pay my respects, because I spent the majority of his terms in office engrossed in cartoons.

Tell me what you thought of the guy?

Well coming on the way to work this morning (like Stroke said, the Reagan Library is less than five miles away) they said the expected wait to take the shuttle over there was 8 hours.

You should go. If not out of respect, then just to say you went. I managed to get myself to Belmont on Saturday, so going to see a dead guy will be just like that, except no beer.

Edit: He's being buried at the library in Cali. The funeral is in the NAtional Cathedral in DC.

I just said why. I was 8 when he was done in office, and I'm not a fan of politics, so he was just another man to me.

I just wanted to see what other people on here thought about him.

Yeah, make fun of my typo

Stroke,

Reagan was the most well loved and regarded presidents the US has had since FDR, though he did not do nearly as well/much.
Many folks loved him as well as hated/despised him for many things within his record including the infamous 'Reaganomics' which GWB Sr. famously referred to as "Voodoo Economics" the cost of which the Clinton administration succesfully resolved within the second term.
Ronald was our first real and seemingly accessible superstar President, far more than Kennedy as he was approachable and seemed to be genuinely interested and caring for peoples problems. He wasn't perfect as no man is nor was his administration which was and is often rumored to have been run from the shadows by the VP, GWB Sr., during his second term. We now know that Alzheimers was just begininng to set in and show its face during that time and thus the idea of a delegated White House took hold with GWB Sr. acting in the role of 'Palpantine'.

For those who are parents of teens and grown children today, Reagan was the equivalent of our Clinton only stiffer and old school in manner and way. There most probably will not be another Reagan to come along as he was a unique and slightly odd make of a man. They just don't make'em like that anymore.

I was watching this on the news last night, and all I wanted to see was someone charge the casket and tackle it, spilling out the contents of the casket on National TV. I was obvioulsy disappointed

I think this is wrong. Go de-frag your hard drive or something. I am pretty sure he is going to be buried at the library like BAM had stated.

When they made the Reagan library, Ronny and Nancy dedicated a site on the grounds to be buried. Something about how they both did all of their work in Cali, from the movies to the SAG to the governership of Cali.

I said I would think, as in not sure.
The library is another possibility.

Do you have any info/intel speifically stating where it'll be?

BTW, BAM edited his post _after_ I made mine.

Friday morning, a motorcade will take the casket to the National Cathedral for a national funeral service. It will then be flown back to California for a motorcade to the library for a private interment service.

Reagan will be buried in a crypt beneath a memorial site at the library, a library spokeswoman said. A curved wall adorned with shrubbery and ivy lines the memorial and is inscribed with a three-line quote from Reagan.

Thanks lump.

I respect your disagreeing with my assertion/opinion.
No worries and I'm very sure you aren't the only one who feels that way on this specific subject.

Back on the Reagan Viewing topic for a moment, my parental units live about 1 mile from Moorpark College where the viewing shuttles leave. My aunt and uncle came into town from boston this weekend and took a trip to San Diego yesterday from my parnets house. Upon returning, it took them approximately 2.5 hours to get TWO FREAKING MILES on the 118 because of the traffic for the shuttle buses. I was supposed to go up and visit them today.....I don't think so.

Cliff notes: Reagan Viewing=suck ass traffic.

Reaganomics
massive budget deficits
War on drugs
Iran-Contra (I don't recall... I don't remember)
240+ Marines and civilian contractors murdered in Beirut for no reason
Grenada invaded the day after Beirut

What's not to like?
