No he is not stupid rich. I have looked into it & he does work very hard for his money although the insurance settlement he got (for a not-at-fault collision, last year) does not hurt either. Having to get a new engine is definitely hurting him right now. I feel bad for him but not too bad. Know what I mean?

The damage was catastrophic. Blew holes in several places in the block, bent the crank & shattered half the rods. Actaully the rear-most cylinder expanded the casting enough to graze the crank position wheel (infront of the flywheel).Surprisingly enough, the heads are in perfect condition. Only ONE intake valve MAY be bent, but we don't think so.

With some earnest beggin, on my part, Nissan is sending me an entire new engine. The only problem is that it is out east & CN is still on strike so it has to come by truck. Air freight was not possible. I may drive to Saskatchewan to meet it halfway. The other problem is the stroker kit has not yet left the states & may not be here by the weekend. I must have the engine ready for next week. It'll take me at least 2 days to tune w/o a dyno. Like I said before, the car must be in VAN on the 26th.

The other option is to dummy up the blown motor & send it off to Van that way. I don't want to do it like that but may have no choice. In order to have a sponsor pick up the travel expenses it must make every show we said it would. I would still rather build the stroker turbo this winter when I can have more time to do more polished fabrication. Plus seeing a 1000hp number would keep me warm until summer 2005. But at this point, for the first time, the powertrain decisions are out of my hands.

On a funnier note when I was in Australia working as a pit crew for a super modified sprinter. The car pushed into the pit area with smoke everywhere. Someone asked what had happen to the motor and the reply from the engine builder was"Its an alternator problem, the piston hit it on the way out of the block" On further inspection 5 rods were poking a hole thru the sump.
Its sometimes fun to play

hehehe...

damian, at 1000 hp you think Nissan over built the tranny to that level or even other tidbits? Or you think this guy will simply go all out and upgrade everything. This will be VERY interesting and I hope he gets there. I know a tons of domestics and supras that will love to see this too. I just hope he doesn't lose the will to keep at it...

Whats the fastest 350z now? They are just around 500 whp no? this would be one of the if not fastest.

I initially talked to Top Secret about thier 350Z turbo. They were not happy about the possibility of not being the most powerful. They soon became uncooperative. But before they clammed up, I found out that thier set-up could not be able to support more than 700hp. 750 tops. They didn't even touch the heads yet.

I should give props to Greddy who was very helpful in making us some custom pieces. They were more than eager to see a car top thier 490 WHP car, even if it wasn't thiers. To thier knowledge they new of no other car that is going through what we are attempting to do. I was happy to hear that.

I hope our customer keeps going w/ the project as well. I would like to show that Japan & the US are not the only ones that know how to build stupid fast cars. My fear now is that it will be on the show circuit too long for me to have time to do what we need to do - properly.

For those that want to know...
Car has been repainted, & re-shoed... again... Suspension is all new. New Tilton clutch & flywheel assembly. Brakes are still being made in the UK. All the electronics have been revamped. Stereo upgraded even more somehow (not my department). Oh yeah and there's the small matter of running more boost. We're approaching 6 bills now. A SAEMS is a must now. The plan is still to stroke it & force more boost. Looking for a k in hp. At that time the Nismo tranny will go in. But really, I just want to see it on the road & show more often. when I get pics from the photoshoot & the owners permission I'll post/send it for you keiho.
Cheers. Oh yeah, I have a 97 Supra project on the go now too.

I dunno, I know some classic Z's that'll destroy any newer one. Two words: tripple Webbers. If you know what that means... you'll know what I am talking about.
