Question Have you stayed at the Rio in Las Vegas?

What'd you think?

The GF wants to go back to Vegas for her birthday (end of July), and we're looking for an even mixture of fun, quality, and affordability, and it looks like the Rio might be it, but I wanted to get some first hand accounts of what you liked and didn't like.

I stayed at the Four Seasons; only $350/night. Do it.

the rio is a bit tough to get in because the locals stay there as well... all the rooms are suites so it is an excellant place to stay.

if you can get a deal on the rooms... stay there... we had a blast staying there. the mexican resteraunt is pretty decent there as well (bambolina or something like that).

Erm... I think we were looking an $100-150 a night.

The thing about this place is that it's off the strip, so it's not as expensive, but it has a great view of the strip. I'd rather look at it from afar than having it all come down on top of me.

it is not off strip in the sense that it is hard to get a cab... which is how you get around in Vegas... especially in the summer. it is about 1 mile off the strip... when i stay there it is an easy morning run from there to Treasure Island and back.

you should be able to stay there in July for 3 nights for < 350-400 dollars... if it is not booked up.

Apparently there's a free tram that runs from the Rio to Harrah's on the strip.

Also, you can take a free shuttle from the Gold Coast (right next to Rio) to the Barbary Coast (smack dab center of the Strip) and back. Anyway, the cab only costs $5-$6, with tip.

I do not believe that is correct... do you mean a shuttle? the taxi ride to the stip isn't any more than 5-6 bucks in traffic.

Never stayed at the Rio - but we have *always* gone there on every Vegas trip for the World Buffet. Perhaps the best buffet I have ever been too!!!

Word. Hit that up when I went last month as suggested and it was tré awesome. While walking around the hotel, some things looked kinda neat. Then I did a little research and saw that they have that club Bikinis and some bar where the waitresses walk around in school girl uniforms, and a bar at the top called VooDoo Lounge w/ a view of Vegas.... They had me at Bikinis.

The seafood buffet at Rio is the best.

I'd stay at the Palms myself and get the bachelor's room that has a stripper's pole in it... but that's just me.

Bikini's is a ripoff of The Beach. The Beach is much better.

The shuttle form the Rio to Harrah's is there, i've taken it

Rio is cool in some ways. They have some of the good looking waitresses in the more skimpier uniforms.

If I stayed in the stripper pole room, my GF would probably make me use it, seeing as it's her b-day.

Where is this "Beach" you speak of?

<--- stayed at the Monte Carlo for about $88 per night last March. We didn't spend much time in the Rio, so we can't comment. The Rio twin towers are perhaps arguably have the most beautiful gawdy paint on the outside. Its painted purple and red I think. Its a hike if you try to walk to the strip though. We enjoyed our stay at the MC though.
