Question Where are they?

Okay. Everyone from New Jersey to Georgia to California has been promised a first-allocation delivery date of March '01. Glenn notes that his WRX had a "port date" of February 14 (is that a Japanese or American port?). And one poster has reported that his dealer told him that his car is "in country".

So where are they? Japan; floating on the Pacific; Vancouver, WA? With 4,000 members on this Board, surely we must have mole in the SOA organization....

I have a first allocation car, and got an unsolicited call from the dealer the other day who said my car would be Midnight Black Pearl, he would have the VIN this coming week, and the car would arrive after March 15th. He said he had the regional SOA rep next to him, and at several points during the conversation he spoke over his shoulder to him, so I know he was there. I am in New England.

dude, I drive right by some Subaru docks in Boston just about every day. I haven't been able to notice any yet...but maybe that's because the bridge going over it is about 150ft. above it.

but don't worry, I'm looking, and if I see them, I'll let you know.

From the beginning, I always heard the first allocation wasn't due until mid March. Wasn't this directly from Subaru and Glenn's website? I know, I know . . . we are all getting a little antsy!

JGard: I go over the Tobin pretty often too. As of last check (today) the dock is totally packed with cars from end-to-end. Makes sense, seeing as dealers are gearing up for the new car buying season (spring-summer). I couldn't notice any Subies at all. It looked to be almost all VW. I kept my eyes peeled for any YELLOW cars, seeing as surely there would be a yellow WRX in there, if WRX's were there at all, and all I saw were yellow New Beetles. If the port of entry for all of Subaru to mainland North America is indeed Vancouver, then I suspect that the WRX's are probably still there and are being put on trains destined for distro centers.

Ok, here's what I have from my dealer and a friend that works at the same dealership.

The "port" specified with a delivery date is the Japanese port. Could it be the same port that will be installing the "port installed options"?

My Subaru enter the US through the port at Vancouver, WA. I have heard rumors on this board that this the port of entry for all US-bound Subarus. The date of delivery at that port (for my car) will be sometime near March 1. I should expect it to be delivered to my dealership (Alaska)

I have said this before and I am just conferming what Autoxer said.

I live in Washington state, my dealer said MY car should be at the dealer on March 1st and I 'should' be able to pick it up Friday March 2nd. Take it for what its worth. Could be a few days later tho.

Hey Autoxer, I'm getting my car from Bellingham. I bet my car and your car will be on the same truck! We will be brothers.

Just to clarify , all Subaru's from JP enter in Vancouver, WA , this is not a mystery, check the sticker on the forester and impreza at your local dealer, it says that right on there

Here is my opinion. I say we all put in some money and charter a jet then parachute out of the jet on to the carrier with all the WRX's that is somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Then land on the deck and search for all the WRX's. Then we can say we were the first ones to see the WRX coming to the states. Or we could just high jack the carrier and keep all the WRX's for ourselves.

SOA said that they were not going to let the cars be delivered at dealerships until after the national dealer meeting next month.

I got some vague message from my dealer last Friday saying he had spoken with the district guy and that i should be receiving the car the "week of march 1st". i want the car then, but my bank account could deal with seeing it a couple weeks la ter. more paychecks between me and the car the better. but oh, i want it.

I'd be surprised if SOA held up sold orders for the dlr meeting. They are doing the dealer launch events in Scottsdale very soon (dlr meeting there?). I could see them holding of floor stock till the dealers know how to sell them.

Who is to say I'm not the mole (posting disinformation?)

I'm assuming my car will be here first week in March.

cincyRS...

Incorrect. Not ALL Imprezas enter into WA.

Window sticker on my '99 RS states Charlestown RI which was port of entry for my car.

They have since moved port of entry for New England Subaru from Charlestown, RI to Boston, MA.

All Japanese made Subarus come through Vancouver, WA. If your sticker doesn't, it's because that it went through a few other facilities before it was considered "officially entered." For instance, I know my car is coming in through Vancouver, but it will go by train to Memphis, TN, before getting to my dealership.

On the Subaru website, it also says that they have only 2 port offices.

My dealer (in the midwest) also said end of March, but it was just an estimate. This wait is unbearable.

Well *****, maybe I should just go check it out. Where's the "port" at in Vancouver? Portland's just south of Vancouver.

Just got this email back from my dealer:

"I have not received any more information. It would be a miracle if it came in
by March 1ST. Who ever is telling people they are getting their
cars March 1st have them call me so I can deliver my 10 sold ordres March 1st.
Tim
I will keep you posted

So, March 1st could be a pipe dream. I hope it's not, of course.
