Question vf34/Vishnu Ecutek Reflash Problem

On Friday I installed a vf34, STi Pinks and Walbro Fuel Pump along with a reflashed ECU from Vishnu

After install I was getting nasty spiking on WOT with max PSI at over 22. I reviewed the Vishnu install instructions (which they didn't send along) and noticed that they wanted the original vacuum-T line from the TD-04 left on. They did send me a modified connector (the one with the air bleed hole) and since I already had one in place, I just left it there.

I looked at the new fitting T vacuum line from the vf34 and compared with the old. They are identical. So I removed their modfied connector and re-installed the stocker. That made no difference.

I know Vishnu tunes to 17 PSI maximum so I am looking for some help here from those experienced with these issues. Unfortunately, the Vishnu staff is away until Tuesday so I can't call them until then.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Also, I do have the Ecutek SECS unit so I can adjust all user-tunable ECU settings that Ecutek allows. I already knocked max boost down by 3 PSI to make sure It wasn't overboosting but the spiking continues.

Thanks,

Jeff

Examine the lines going from the compressor to wastegate actuator and the boost control solenoid again. It is also possible your solenoid is stuck open.

you HAVE To use their bleeder connector.

also you have to take the vac. lines off the stock turbo and use them on the vf34.. the pill inside the lines is what makes a WORLD of difference. I had the same spiking problem and swapping the lines cured it.

on another note, is the SECS unit worth it? I've been eyeing it up.

I will put in the stocker and replace the bleeder connector. I suppose it can't hurt. Thanks for the advice.

The Ecutek SECS unit is the balls. I wish I had ordered the Dephi Oil Temp/Pressure probes and probably will do so when I have the money.

In order to get proper gauges you have to spend the same or more so why not.

The only thing that almost stopped me is that the EGT reading is from the factory EGT sensor and therefore of limited value. Even if I buy a pod and a seperate EGT gauge it will still cost me about the same as a set of good gauges that would only read three or four seperate functions. I highly recommend this unit. Oh, and even with the better new VCD screen it is still tough to read in direct sunlight. I may relocate it from the pod to the din and move my radio lower but we will see. Thanks for the help.

I have a diffrent exhaust than the normal stage 2 package and I also get spiking with the default map. Try lowering your duty cycle on the wastegate. I've got mine at about 60% and that controls the spiking pretty well. Hope that helps!

Okay. So I put the stocker on and everything is fine..or it was. No spiking, max boost is still up around 18.2 but After two hours of driving I was getting a fault code P0442. So I go, Oh great, now what?

I call AutoZone and they look through and find out that I now have............

a lose gas cap. doh

Thanks for the help guys. I'm a little concerned with the 18.2 PSI boost but that can wait until I talk to Vishnu.

Pharmco - Yeah my next step would be to reduce the wastegate duty cycle.

Thanks for the help guys.

Jeff

And by the way, it sure was easy to reset that fault code with the SECS unit. Just a push of a few buttons and "Poof."

make sure you have the newer xede with boost control. I just ran the bleeder on my stock turbo and i would hit the target boost level of 17psi. When adding the vf30 i realized i had no boost control and had an older xede. Call up vishnu to check pin numbers or just look at the harness.

Hey guys,

I know I started this thread but I have no idea about xede.

My problem is all set. I am going to unsubscribe from this thread but if I can help anyone (which I doubt), PM me. I am usually pretty quick to get back to people.
