What color is the wheels on your STi? Are they Painted? Powdercoated? Did you dismount the tires?

the eclipse was the new, v6 model. i missed the turbo model by a year or two (i was pissed). with that car i learned never buy a car because of a great finance rate

the wheels were painted (tires remained on the wheels), it's actually kind of a custom color because i used a bronze underneath the gunmetal top coat. not sure how much of the bronze is visible but they are much darker than i wanted. i will probably have them powdercoated when i have the tires stripped because i'm sure the stock tires aren't long for this world.

Hey,
How does your old WRX with the VF-22 stack up against the STI? I currently have a '04 WRX (Stage 3 turboxs + header) and am deciding if I should get a bigger turbo or just return my car to stock and get an sti. I know there is more to the STI than just the better engine. If you could do it all over again, would you keep the WRX instead of getting the STI? Nice cars!

the wrx with the vf-22 and fmic, utec, etc was a bit faster than my sti, i'm sure... but they are totally different animals. the wrx didn't hit power till 3300 rpms, then it just pulled like mad and didn't stop. the sti seems to pull all the time, it doesn't seem to have a soft spot except for maybe the last 1,000 rpms.

i sold off all my parts, paid off $5k in debt, saved myself $300 per month in bills and bought my sti which cost me an extra $80 per. so i am still +$200 per month richer and i have a new sti with warranty.

i just found myself trying to make the wrx into an sti, which is not a bad thing, but for me this situation works better for me

Tobey,
Thanks for the input! I might just leave my car as is...drive it for another year and just get an STi. I fell in love with the STi when I test drove it but didn't want to trade for my 3rd WRX within a year and a half of buying my first one. Glad to hear things worked out good for you!
