OMGHi2U Legacy Unveiling?

Did anyone else recieve a recorded message phone call last night inviting you to a dealership (most likely the one you bought a car from) to see the new legacy at some unveiling party?

I'm alittle confused about this unvieling. Is this for the new Legacy Limited 2.5 turbo? Last night I was walking around Manchester Subaru before I went to class and they had one setting on the lot with dealer plates ready to test drive... sweet ride...but I thought it was suppose to be "under wraps" until today??

I was considering going, but then I got the recorded phone call. This is barely one step above telemarketing and IMO recordings on an auto-dialer is pretty cheap.

Default New England Subaru

Hi guys just to let you know about how invites were sent/phone calls made. It was a decision made from the powers at be at subaru of new england. They sent mailers out NOT by where you bought the car but where your zip code fell into their sort system, giving you the dealership invite to the market area they cover.

We had this difficulty last night with one customer who had bought 2 cars from the dealership but got an invite from another competetor instead.

If it wasn't a last minute idea we would have had time to prep and send out our own mailers.

I hope this clears things up.

What I liked was when I got to the dealership, I was told that they didn't have any GTs to sit in or Test-Drive. They only had one GT Wagon and it was sold.. so no sitting in that one.

Heck, I just walked out. Thanks for the time waster.

The dealership Iwent to didnt even have a GT to view, they had only recieved the Outback! It looked nice though, minus the fake wood work.

That's crap!

I'm glad I decided not to go. What dealers did you guys go to that didn't have the GT?

I received a mailed invitation last week with a hand written note from the salesperson at the dealer near near my house that I talk to when I go in.

I got an invite from Suburban Subaru my local dealer that I had got my RS from back in 99. Went over and was able to test drive a turbo Outback auto and the new H6 Outback. I was very impressed with both. They had a 5 speed GT sedan but I didn't get a chance to take it out. I really like the interior, it is the best yet. I like the steering wheel a lot, MOMO and has radio controls on it. Both cars were very quite as well and felt solid. The H6 was very smooth but I like the turbo better. It was odd seeing the guages go black in the turbo when you turn the car off. I have a feeling they are going to sell really well. So, if you want to drive one head over to Suburban in Vernon, CT.

there was a single outhouse wagon xt, nice looking I must admit, however, no GT's. I was kinda bummed. They didn't even have an sti. :-/
I think if I'm going to get one, to get the best deal, I'll have to go somewhere where they've got them on the lot.

I got an invite from Charlie's Subaru in Augusta, ME. I went in a few weeks ago and they had a couple new Outback Limited's, but that was it. For last nights unveiling however, they had several new ones in, including a couple of XT and L.L.Bean Outbacks, and 3 Legacy GT's set aside strictly for test drives. One of them, a black sedan, was sold before I even got there. But, since there was only about 10 people there, I had no problem getting the first test drive.

The car I took was a Legacy GT wagon, Atlantic Blue, 5spd SportShift auto, with 4mi on the clock (I specificially asked for the wagon). I got to take it for about a 20min spin up I95 and back, and the salesman told me to hammer on it. Overall, I loved the car. Styling is excellent, both inside and out. The seats are second only to the SVX, and far better than those in the wife's VDC. The engine is incredible after about 2500, (turbo lag, I would assume? I've never really driven a turbo car much before) and the ride is extremely smooth up to at least 95.

There are a couple of things I didn't like, though. First, when I was coming back onto I95, I dropped it into 2nd at about 25-30 and punched it, and it took a good 1-2secs before the engine even started to rev. Same thing when I played with the SportShift, I'd shift (up or down) and it'd take a couple secs to shift. I know there must be some reason for these delays, but I don't like them, I want my power and shifts now! I think I'd have no problems with a stick, though. The only other thing I didn't like (which may not even be that bad), was that it's a damn sneaky car. The power and the smooth ride trick you into thinking your doing about 70 when really your doing about 95.
