for anyone who has a pretty good knowledge of paint.
i have been wanting to do a bunch of custom stuff to the car for a while paintwise. im for sure going to do the sideskirts colormatched, but have a bunch of parts in mind, namely, grille, interior door handles, any small interior trim. originally i was just going to color match it all, Platinum Metallic Silver, but lately i have been thinking of chrome. now im totally serious when i ask this, but has anyone dealt with spray chrome? i know they make some pretty professional grade spray chrome, and when the material is prepped properly, it looks pretty good. it would have been nice if the parts were metal to begin with, then i could have just had them chromed. any ideas/suggestions? thanks

The spray chromes need PERFECT prep. EVERY imperfection shows. Dust specs in the undercoat = do it again.
Even the very best are not very durable. They can look good at first, but fingerprints, acid rain, etc. make it look crappy real quick. |

I'd have to find my sources on this, but there are a couple places you can mail your parts. The process goes something like this:
You prep the parts as smooth as humanly possible, then wrap well padded and ship off.
It is not as durable as real chrome, but it does the job. |

hmm but what about on something like the grille, where it gets hit with rocks and stuff? would it chip? i might just color match, but chrome looks sooooooo much nicer.
also, whats the cost? |

im not talking about the entire interior or anything ugly like that.
mainly im just thinking door handles. i hate the entire color matched look, im just tired of the subarus interior not being up to par. something else thats alittle nicer could class up the car. and i already have more CL points than everyone in this forum combined. but thanks ![]() |
