Question what do you want to know about the WRX?

Since we're going to go check it out at the Philly show tomorrow, I'm trying to make a list of things to look for, like if parts like the underdrive pulley or a Kartboy shifter (if we can rip the center console off without anybody noticing ) can be transferred over.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to this list?

Based on pictures I've seen, even with the 17" wheels, the wheel well looks huge. I'm curious how that looks in person, since I have yet to see one up close. Any chance you can check out the size of wheel and tire in there and guestimate how much extra space is there?

Exactly,
The factory 17" forged wheels look tiny in the wheel wells. I saw the Silver sedan in Detroit with the BBS 17"s. Personally, I'm not a big fan of these (esp. for the price). Although, the split 5 spoke available everywhere but here looks good in 17", go figure.

Just my 0.02

One thing I have been wondering about is if the wing has a third brake light (CHMSL) integrated into it. I can't tell for sure from the pictures from Detroit, but I am assuming so.

It looked like the rear parcel shelf had the original CHMSL on it even with the wing. I hope that at a minimum that the rear parcel shelf light is disconnected if the wing also has one. It looks really stupid to me to have both light up.

Even better would be if the rear parcel shelf unit could be removed without leaving a gaping hole

thanks,
Jeff

Have fun!
Please check out the strut mounts for the wagon (F/R). Are they different from the current wagon, will current upgrades switch over?
Thanks.

Take a wild guess

Post

1. Brake booster -- single or double stage?
2. Brake lines -- I heard people say it's stainless steel?
3. Turbo -- Is it certain that it's Mitsu's TD03?

Thanks for the info and have fun!

Dunno.

Uhh, flexible brake hoses are never stainless steel, they are some kind of nylon covered with a stainless steel braid.

But I don't think it has them.

> 3. Turbo -- Is it certain that it's Mitsu's TD03?

Imprezer said it was a TD04.

Neo - Dual stage brake booster is confirmed.

I thought it was a TD04 turbo.

Since the Canadian WRX sedans come standard with the rear wing, I am curious as to whether or not the window mounted brake light will be on the car or not. I hope NOT.

Also, I think that with a bit of lowering, the wheel wells will not look as big as they do on the standard car. They are big, though.

Sorry if this is stupid, but what are the 3 horizontal lines on the right rear taillight in the pics above? Fog light or something? Or is the the turn indicator and I just can't see it well enough on the other side? Thanks,

Lightbulb

RidinLow, like some one else said, check the space in the wheel wells front and rear. I'm more interested in the clearance between the tire and fender and strut on the wagon.
The other thing I haven't seen a good picture of is the storage compartments in the cargo area of the wagon. Are you taking a digital camera?
Thanks

Thanks for the pictures Glenn. That was what I was afraid of. I guess I need to figure out which annoys me less; the redundant lights or no spoiler. I suppose worst case I can remove the bulb and/or rewire the 3rd brake light on the package shelf to keep it from coming on.

This is going to sound a bit strange, but I want to know why the Towing package is offered on the TS and OBS, but not the WRX or RS (in England it's offered for both WRX's).

The next question would be why? Well, I want a car that's fun to drive, can haul my 4 people and my dog, and can tow my race bike to the track. The WRX wagon is one vehicle that can do it all (I've also seen guys tow a small trailer with race tires to auto-x). The WRX brochure I got in the mail indicates the WRX can tow 2000 lbs.

Can you check the rear underside of the WRX and TS and see if there are any major differences that would explain this? Thanks!

Hey Ridin,
Get a good pic of the drivers reference looking out the front, like Glenn did but more centered. Also, how about a good closeup of the seat from straighton, maybe through the windshield?

If you are concerned with the rear window brake light, just take it out and you can either plug the holes or swap in a rear shelf from a Euro or JDM spec one, AFAIK.

Cool

I'd REALLY like to know if 17x8s would fit under those funky arches. At what offset?(Then we could run Yoko A032RS in 235 40 17!)

Question

Can someone peek into the front bumper cutout and see if there is a GRILLE to protect the radiator from road debris or is it just open.

thanks

bhickson- those "lines" are actally reflectors built into the lense. Most all cars you see on the road have these reflectors. The next time you drive down a street with parellel parked cars at night, you headlights will reflect in them

Can you get a shot of the trunk for me? A good shot of the back seat with someone around 6' tall would be cool too. See if it has a full spare for me too.
Thanks,

Think you could take a tape measure?

I would be interested in measurement in the sedan trunk, from strut tower to strut tower, depth of the towers, and height between floor and rear dash.

Would also be interested in a trunk pic without the carpet (sedan, but others would probally want wagon too).

Too much to ask?

Ditto what Travis Said...

What's the clearance between the struts and the tires? Especially between the tires and struts on the wagon front and rear.

Are they as close as they are on the rear of the RS ir is there a little more room?

(Will 225's fit without rubbing?)
