Prove that it isn't you driving the car? That is about the only way to get out of it.

There is an Urban Legend you might be talking about. You have to first mitigate the ticket through the mail. Once you get the final ticket you actually have to pay. The trick is, you pay one dollar over the cost of the ticket. They will then be forced to send you a refund check for the dollar you overpaid. The key is, when you get that check DO NOT CASH IT! They can not process the final paper work till the check is cashed and it will get caught up in the mans computer system.

Now I have never tried this, but I have read several accounts of people that said it worked for them.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do. I am not advocating this choice, but just telling a story of what I have heard.

So if they dont process it, did you end up actually paying? Was the money deducted from your account?

I used to get these all the time back in the day. I just ignored them because it was never sent first class mail. If you do not sign you do not plea. Nothing ever came out of it and no subpoena.(this was back in the day) it may be different now. But, (not very smart) I would even wave to the cameras, and nothing ever happened. Who knows now, maybe things have changed haven't had one in a while.

I have had about 4-5 of those tickets, most of them on Scottsdale Rd, or tatum just north of shea (thats where those pesky trucks always are).... I never replied to them, and never heard anything about it... Just re-registered my car at the DMV, nothing came of it....

About two months ago the company I work for had to update our records and do background checks on everyone. All my tickets showed up, all with the status of dismissed.

If you "never get it", then it doesn't exist to you. The U.S. postal service isn't perfect.

Although this worked for WgnWheel, it might have been a fluke according to snopes:

yes this has been confirmed by a tempe cop, if you "never" got it in the mail, then there is nothing they can do. they are happy with the fact taht it costs little to run tehm versus the tickets it brings in, and teh deterrent taht it provides. plus most people pay their ticket so why spend any extra money chasing a person they can't prove got thr ticket? when they got free money coming in the mail, remember writing tickets is a "business" there is an infastructor that it supports

they will usually send it twice and if they feel that it is really you and they want to pursue it, they will send a person and deliver it. it happend to a guy I work with. the delivery man came at 8:45 at night, too. since they gave it to him, he had to either go to court and say its not him, or face the music.

BTW, the latest ticket was thunderbird and SR51. That is Phoenix. It is not just Scottsdale.

My sister has many of these. A process server actually goes to her door to try and verify delivery of ticket. Perhaps because she has multiple offenses.

Actually, the photo radar tickets, are not law enforcment. It is a private company. They can not report to DMV. You actually report to DMV through responding. This is why if you ignore them, they never show up. The citations are from a private company, not DPS or other agency charged with enforcement of traffic code. It is also why you can not ignore a ticket delivered by a poliece man who pulls you over. They will show up and a warrant can be issues.

No warrant from photo radar because it is not a law enforcement agancy. This is as far as I can tell. I do not know about red light cameras though.
