Post best CARB legal intake?

just wondering what has been tried and true? i was gonna get a carbon fiber weapon-r, but people say its still an aluminum pipe wrapped in carbon fiber. im more of a function over form kinda guy. any recomendations? right now i have a K&N filter on my throttle body with various breathers...valve cover, crankcase etc. works wonders with an open hood scoop... like a ram air kinda thing. im sure its not carb legal coz i just threw it together.

I don't think any of the intakes out there aftermarket have cleared CARB. I asked this question about a month ago regarding exhaust and intake and didn't get any intelligent replies.
One thing to remember is that with a new car you have 4 years till you need to smog it. Are you the guy who is moving from Hawaii to CA in the near future? Cuz you will need to smog it to get registered in CA. Pretty easy though, make sure it looks pretty stock, but don't worry about closing the vent up(2 minutes anyways) and you will pass the visual. The sniffer test should be a breeze too.
If you are truly into function over form, no need to spend the money on the weapon R. Put it in the piggy-bank for some other upgrade cuz you are probably getting as many extra horses as that intake provides. Most people seem to forget that the SCC and manufacturer intake tests were done hood open like most intake tests which really skews your numbers on the high side of gains.

i don't think ANY of the intakes are carb legal. in fact i am almost positive. ouraftermarket is so small, that to think that one manufacterer would go through the motions to legalize a product they maybe sold 200 a year. the price would be prohibitive. i bet someday soon, there will be a smog legal intake. but just not right now.

come live in fremont for a month and live around stevenson blvd to mowry. you shall know what illegal intakes can do =) to be certified it needs to have a CARB-EO sticker. any other CARB sticker won't do. A fine? Yes because you have to pay like $30 to go get a state Refree to smog check you and then pay like another $30 from the judge

it's so idiotic, making an intake illegal. I'll just keep my stock for smog, and run a Ganz the rest of the time. A cop can't look under your hood without permission anyway.

Hello,

Darwin, but they can ask you to leave your car right where it's parked and walk home if you refuse to prove the legality of the car. They can simply say they hear a louder than stock intake. Then they have a reasonable suspicion to detain you for further investigation into whether there is PC (probable cause) to arrest you (yes, fix it tickets are arrest and release situations). If they reasonably believe that your car is illegal, you're f**ked.

But, you have to be a real jerk to screwed over an intake. I was racing (shame on me) a friend. I thought he was still racing. I didn't know that he saw a cop. The cop used the friend's car to block my view of the cop (night). The cop swung around behind me at the light. I dumped the clutch and filled the intersection with smoke as I took off like a madman.

Among the many potential tickets I worked my way out of (from misdemeanor exhibition of speed to reckless driving to about a dozen fix-it tickets), I got out of the modified intake and exhaust and non-carb stamped headers and a score of other such things.

So, if I could do that, you really just need to be more honest, up front, and friendly with your local cops if you're getting intake fix-it tickets.
