Warranty question... Syncros

Are syncros covered under the warranty? My first gear syncro is shot, and the service manager at the local Subaru dealer suggested it may not be a warranty issue.

She also suggested that my 100k mile extended B to B warranty wouldn't cover the tranny, or other parts of the drive train either.

Synchros,like everything else in the tranny IS covered under the 60000mile power train warrnaty which includes the engine and the tranny. The only thing that isn't covered, and it is considered a wear item is the clutch. If your dealer wants to be an ass, just call SOA (1800SUBARU3), and they'll set him straight. Also, after you make that call, be sure to go to a different dealer to have the work done, as this one might be a little annoyed that you called SOA, and give you a hard time.

Thanks. Now I just have to get the dealer to honor that... And to not give me a hard time. I'm ahead of the powertrain warranty, but by next week I'll be outside it. However, hopefully my 100k will cover that, too.

Yeah I had a problem with my third gear syncro last summer. My dealer tried to tell me it was my fault and it was the way I drive the car. They tried to tell me it was not covered under warranty. So I called SOA. The person I talked to was very helpful. They even called the dealer for me. Then the dealer called me saying they were going to fix it.
