i doubt your local speed shop removed your cat. he could land in seriously deep poop for doing that here in NJ.

yea, but this shop is a ghetto city full of illegal drag racing and there are shops on every corner for tuning our imports.

Let me ask you a question though..Why are you guys so worried about emissions? I know here in NY they can't do it on our cars because they have the rollers only for one axel. And no way are they going to jack up the front of the car to let the front wheels spin freely.I don't plan on removing my cat or anything but when I have the EJ20 installed I won't be breaking a sweat. Also of you guys have to worry about the emissions stations looking for the cats..Just pound a pipe through it and bolt it back up, instant free-flow...Gerry

If they removed your cat, they surely would have charged you for the labor!

The catalytic convertor looks like a small muffler. It is the first thing on the exhaust after the exhaust manifold. I doubt they removed it because that would only create more work for them when installiing your exhaust. If they did your check engine light would be on. As for emmissions I can see the difference between an engine with and without a catalytic convertor on a gas analyzer. You can take your vehicle to a good shop with a gas emission analyzer and have it checked, for a fee. The emission station may not notice a difference though, most emmission testing is only for political purposes. I have an old truck that definately would fail emmissions but has passed for 10 years now.
