Post HKS evc pro

Hi All,
I am from UK and was wondering if any of you guys/girls have used and installed a HKS evc pro??
I am trying to get some instructions on how to set the extra features (whatever there are) as I do not have any instructions in english.
I am also trying to install the extra 3 wires onto my ecu but with no english instructions I am finding it nearly impossible!!!
I have tried the UK for the last 4 weeks but with no luck.
Can anyone help me??
The car is a UK impre MY95
Regards
G.

Hi,
I have already tried them, but from my knowledge, they do not 'promote' this product but only the evc 4.
I am looking for someone who has actually installed and set up this product, so that I can get some info of them
Regards
G

Unfortunately, the Pro model is not actually sod in the US by HS. the can be had (I have sold a few to Supra and RX7 TT owners), but they are pricey. I would suggest one of the HKS distributor in the UK...isn't BRD (Bob Rawle) one? Also, I keep hearing good things about Options Tuning in the UK as well...not sure where they are located, but they advertise in Car from time to time. OPeople of scoobynet.com also seem happy with them too. Any particular reason you went with the pro over the standard evc4? I know it has loads of extra features, but is this for everyday use or more of a race car?

Hi,
I am actually from the UK and i have found that very few, if any, run the HKS evc pro.
I have had a few 'helpers 'but that is only for the installation of the evc pro with the hoses etc NOT the electrical wiring.
I am still waiting for some replies but at the moment 'they' are too busy.
I have been waiting for nearly 2 months!!!
Regards
G.
Same with the FCON 5!!!

Greenking...

Keep the digs coming...

Hey Adam.. hows the mota ?

The EVC Pro isnt officially sold in the UK either.. In my opinion its pointless running a Pro on the Subie... it is more designed for a 2WD car.

I have run a FCON V, EVC, EVC Pro, GCC, FCD, most bits of HKS electronics... they are good.. but not really suited to the Impreza.

I'm not sure about Options in the Uk.. in Japan it is quite a large setup. But over here its just a small industrial unit with one ramp I believe... cant comment on their abilities or quality, as I have never been to them.

J!!! Just the man I hae been looking for!

The mota is good...all is in, downpipe I hear is very very nice (haven't seen the car myself yet, ust what I heard), but there is a problem....seems the ecu (STi V4) comes fitted with an immobilzer, although my car oviously doesn't have this feature to it. So, it turns over, but will not fire. Apparantly, the imobilizer disables the fuel pump, and/or spark (ot sue which). They have tried grounding the immobilizer wires out, but to no avail. How can we disable this feature! Thanks

As for the evc pro, the people I know all have 2wd cars come to think of it...hmmm. If I rememer, it has various compensations for altitude, etc...not sure what it all means, and how it might be worth the extra price (I think it was like 2 times the cost of the normal evc4). I know of a few retailers in Japan that might be able to help you...let me kow if you want their contact info.

Hey Adam,

I replied to the UK board first...but just incase...

The STI ECU's dont come with an immobiliser as far as I know... chances are its an aftermarket unit.

What you need to establish is what is not working.. check the fueling... check for a spark. usual stuff...

I can send you another STI ECU if you want, but if the loom has an imobiliser spliced into it, ithat will need removing first.

You said in your other post about a box next to the ECU ? Stock cars dont have anything next to the ECU box.

In realtion to the EVC Pro, the main benefits are boost controlled on rev or speed... ideal for a car which has poor traction (good for launches). but not much use for AWD.. I suppose it does have some compensation features that are good...etc.. but I doubt you'll use anything more than the stock EVC has.

Hi All,
Sorry Jay, but it was not intended at you, then it has been over 2 months ago and I have had no replies.
I know you have said that you have been busy (just recently)but in the past.....???
The reason why I am trying to run an EVC PRO and a FCON 5 is that it is compatible with other turbos and I got them, plus other goodies (all HKS), VERY CHEAP!!!!
Option motosport has been a very good help to me and I will recommend them as they are cheaper and HELPFUL than other companies I know in the UK!!!!!!!
I seem to get more help from the BBS than actually phoning companies?!!!
Sorry Jay again, no hard feelings but I would like to sort this problem out, once and for all and YOU have been the ONLY one who has run this set up that has replied!!!!
Regards
G.
Adam, can you send me the contact in japan for me pls?? I do not want to 'put all my eggs in one basket' Thanks
