Angry Defective ignition wire coil packs

I've developed this problem last winter when i noticed my car was shuddering at idle and when i accelerated. At first i thought it was a clutch problem or fuel injector problem but then i heard sparking under my hood and found a current jumping from one of my ignition wires onto a bolt on the engine block. After taking it to the dealership to get it fixed, they found the problem was a burnt out ignition coil pack so current to the spark plug was wasted and i was essentially running on 3 cylinders. After i had my car serviced my friend started experiencing the same problem with hi MY2000 RS (mine is a MY1999 btw) and lo and behold same faulty part. And just recently i heard that Richard Burns failed to finish the 2001 Monte Carlo rally because of ignition coil problems. People this isn't good! Anyone else have any similar experiences? Please share, thanks.
