Question 2005 Legacy or Outback 2.5i, 6-disk changer possible?

I just bought a 2005 Outback 2.5i wagon today. They only come with a single disk CD and there is no option for a Subaru 6-disk changer (that we know of). I have a really good aftermarket system that my husband installed and took out of my traded-in 2003 WRX wagon, but the problem is the face plate in the 2005 Legacy is not suitable for any aftermarket stereo and besides the stock one sounds darn good. My question then is: Can a CD-changer be added somehow without cutting up the stock face plate? Does Subaru make a 6-disk CD-changer for under the seat that can be used with my car? Any options at all to get a CD changer in my car?

Call your local dealer and ask to see if they could order you a 6disc changer designed for an Outback LLBean or Limited.

If they are able to do so, you should have no problem getting that 6 disc changer installed in your Outback 2.5i.

Might cost a fortune though.

Check out the manual what type of radio you have in the new Outback. Maybe somewhere is stated that an CD-Changer can be added.

In the manual of my car (european spec) there are 6 (!) several head units listed (also the japanese with MD-support ...).
As it seems a 10-CD Changer can be added to the CD/radio-only head unit.
At least here in Germany it is possible for the 2.5i versions.

And then check out of the source switch (mode or whatever it is called) on the right shows the letter "CHG" or "CHR" (don't know the right ones, will check it later). If yes, then you should be able add at least the 10-CD Changer.
I have a Subaru brochure where the 10-CD Changer is listed as an option for the 2.5i. It looks like an Kenwood changer. But they unfortunately charge 500 Euros !

By the way- CONGRATULATIONS for the new car!

I think you should wait a little while. A lot of people are going to be replacing their stock 6 discs- you'll be able to pick one up cheap in a few months.
